Too Faced White Peach Palette - Swatches and Review

I am finally getting around to let you know my thoughts on the Too Faced White peach palette I picked up during a Sephora Weekly Wow last August. I only paid $27.50 CAD plus tax for this palette, the full price is $55.00 CAD. I think, even at the full price, this palette would have been worth it for me with the amount of use I got out of it. I wish Sephora did the Weekly Wows more often.

Too Faced-White Peach Eyeshadow PaletteDSC08475.jpg

As with most Too Faced palette, there is a scent with this one. The scent is a fairly faint one though, nothing like the Sweet Peach one, a slightly sweet peach scent. I like that Too Faced usually gives a ‘Glamour Guide’ of a few looks to help get you started with looks from the palette.

I really like the look of the Too Faced White Peach palette, it isn’t over the top, nor is it bulky. It is in the same packaging as Just Peachy Mattes. The attention to detail with the peach closure is great.

The shades in the Too Faced White Peach palette.

The shades in the Too Faced White Peach palette.

The Too Faced White Peach palette isn’t a palette for all skin tones though. I would say that the bulk of the shades wouldn’t show very well on someone with much darker than a medium tone. As you can see the shades are mostly on the light side, there really are only 2 darker shades, On The Grill and Peach Passion. But for me most of the shades work well. I used this palette a ton before I had my eye surgery, it was an easy, hard to mess up palette! I would use almost any of the matte shades in the crease and than a more shimmery shade, either from this palette or from another, on the lid.

The shades in the Too Faced White Peach palette are (shade descriptions are from - Peach Cream (matte soft cream), Peach Suede (matte dusty rose), Peaches & Dreams (golden peach pearl), Creme De La Peach (soft coral with gold sparkle), Peach Sorbet (matte creamy peach), Glistening Peach (rose gold with sparkle), Peach Smoothie (matte rose taupe), Sweet Fig (matte smoky mauve), Peach Ice (white shimmer with gold sparkle), Fuzzy (matte creamy grey), On The Grill (matte charcoal grey), and Peach Passion (deep orchid with blue and purple sparkle).

As you can see from the swatches, most of the shades are fairly light and there are more matte shades than shimmer. I did find that the shade Glistening Peach swatched a lot better than it applied on the lid with a brush. I ended up using On The Grill as eyeliner, it works great for darkening up the lash line. I have not used the shade Peach Passion os of yet, I don’t tend to go for darker eye looks, maybe I should try it as a liner?!

As with most, if not all, Too Faced palette you do get a look card with a few different looks to give you some inspiration on what to do with the palette. I do like that they give you some looks, a starting place so to speak. For me and my preferences, ‘Bottomless Bellinis’ was my starting point.

If you are light to medium complexion, and like neutral to warm toned looks, I think that you would probably enjoy the Too Faced White Peach palette. I used this palette a ton before my eye surgery, but I have also started to pull it back out again lately. When I work the evening shift at work I still like to wear makeup but I do tend to go for a soft neutral look.

Have you found a palette that is your easy, hard to mess up, everyday neutral yet? Let me know what it is, I am always on the hunt for those ones.

SDM Fragrance Sampler Finale!

Well, its finally time to let you know if I was successful in using the gift certificate from the SDM Fragrance Sampler that I had picked up during a Black Friday Weekend Bonus Redemption shopping trip from 2016. If you would like to take a trip down memory lane and read about the contents of this box you can find it here.

Quick notes are that you get a selection of deluxe sample size fragrances to try out, the bottles are nearly identical to the full size counterparts. You also receive a pamphlet that somewhat describes the fragrances as well as some hints on how to test out the fragrances.

The gift certificate gives you a place to record your rating of each fragrance, which can be helpful in remembering what you actually thought about each one. You than just bring in the Gift Certificate to Shopper’s Drug Mart and redeem for your favourite fragrance in a full size.

Here is how the Fragrances rated for me along with link to the reviews I posted about them.

Mugler - Angel Muse Retail $102.00 CAD

Signorina - Salvatore Ferragamo Retail $100.00 CAD

Chloé - Chloé Retail $122.00 CAD

Giorgio Armani - Sí Retail $122.00 CAD

Lancôme - Trésor Retail $119.00 CAD

Versace - Eros Pour Femme Retail $106.00 CAD

Issey Miyake - L’Eau D’Issey Pure Retail $92.00 CAD

If you read through my thoughts on all 7 fragrances, you may be able to guess which one I went to get.

The fragrance I picked up with my Gift certificate, and what it cost me ☺️

The fragrance I picked up with my Gift certificate, and what it cost me ☺️

The Gift Certificate didn’t have an expiry date on it, but I was somewhat skeptical that it would still be good almost 3 years later. I was lucky once again with the Gift Certificate from this SDM Fragrance Sampler from 2016! As you can see from the receipt above I paid absolutely nothing for this $119.00 CAD fragrance.

I love the bottle almost as much as I the scent! The full size has a spritzer instead of an open top like the sample size. I will continue to use the sample until it’s gone and than switch over to the full size.

Having now tried out 2 different sampler sets, I can say that I think they are well worth the money. Not only do you get to try out a few different products from various brands, at the cost of 1 full size, you than get to pick a full size of your favourite one. And in my case with both sampler sets, I was still able to redeem for my full size more than 2 years after having purchased the set.

Have you ever tried a sampler set before? Did it take you forever to try out all the products before finally deciding on the full size you wanted? Let me know!

Trip Through My Trash - April 2019

Another good assortment of products used up during the month of April. Again with a few products that aren’t used up, 1 is dried up and another is just not my favourite. If you are interested in my thoughts on what I used up in April, stick around and I’ll get to it.

A good mix of both makeup and skincare.

A good mix of both makeup and skincare.

I think I ended up finishing a good assortment of products during April. A little bit of everything again. 2 tosses this month, not to bad if I do say so myself. And if you are wondering, that dried up piece isn’t a piece of food, its whats left of a Lush product.

I used up a few samples and a few full size skin, hair and body care.

I used up a few samples and a few full size skin, hair and body care.

St Ives - Renewing Body Lotion - I tried this lotion during the winter months but it just wasn’t moisturizing enough for me. I took it into work and kept it at my desk and used it as a hand lotion and it was great for that. This ‘scent’ didnt really have mush of a scent so it was perfect for use in a hospital setting! A lot of my co-workers would come up to the desk and use it as well, we all agreed it was a great hand lotion. Repurchase? I did to use as my body lotion for the warmer months.

B&BW Spiced Pumpkin Cider Body Cream - The second last B&BW body cream that I had left! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the scent on this one, but luckily for me the scent didn’t last that long on my skin. I like to use the B&BW Body Creams in the winter months as my skin tends to get very dry, to the point of flaking. The B&BW Body Cream are very moisturizing and great for me during the cooler months. Repurchase? Not this scent, but I will probably pick up more when the weather turns cold again.

B&BW At The Beach Shower Gel - Again, this is the second last bottle of Shower Gel that I had left from B&BW. I like the B&BW shower gels, but I would suggest if you are getting them and the Body Cream to go with, that you pick up 2 Creams to each Shower Gel if you want to use the same scent together. The B&BW Shower Gels do foam up nicely with little product. I always felt clean after using them! Repurchase? I am not sure if I will be repurchasing the B&BW Shower Gels, I like them but there are others I like more.

Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser - My daughter passed this face cleanser on to me as it didnt work out for her. It was an ok cleanser, it does have a very strong tea tree scent though. It wasn’t drying on my face and I did use it every morning in the shower. Repurchase? Probably not.

Origins GinZing Eye Cream - I have tried samples of the Origins eye cream before, and while I do like it, I am just not a fan of the full size packaging. It does a great job of moisturizing my underage area and makeup applies well overtop of it. If the full size didnt come in a pot I would probably purchase the full size. Repurchase? Not the full size but I will happily use up any and all samples I get of it!

Sephora Cleansing Cream Rose - Wow, the rose scent on this cleanser is VERY strong. It did an ok job on cleansing my skin but I doubt I could get past the scent to pick up a full size. I am glad that I had a sample to try of this, I know that it isn’t for me. Repurchase? No

Lush Montalbano Shampoo Bar - That little piece of dried up fruit is what is left of the Lush Montalbano shampoo bar. I picked this up trying to find a replacement for my weekly clarifying shampoo and was hoping this would be it. I liked it at first but the more that I used it the harder it got to use. Montalbano does a decent job of removing the buildup but I just can’t get past how hard it is to use on longer hair once you get about halfway through it. That piece of dried up fruit that was impeded in it kept getting caught in my hair or felt really rough on my hands when I tried to use it that way. I think I may just not be the shampoo bar type of person. Repurchase? Highly doubt it.

2 empties and 2 tosses.

2 empties and 2 tosses.

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara - I liked this mascara well enough, but I am not sure if it is worth the $30.00+ price tag. If you would like to read my thoughts on this mascara you can find my review here. Repurchase? Not anytime soon!

Benefit Precisely, My Brow - I have used this brow pencil before and liked it, this one, not so much. The shade I got is 1 and I think its just a touch to light for me. This pencil also seems really hard, I was afraid I was going to be pulling out brow hairs when I used it. I prefer a softer brow pencil. Repurchase? Not anytime soon.

Too Faced Hangover Rx Replenishing Face Primer - I found this primer to be nice and moisturizing and I think it did help my makeup last longer. It reminds me a lot of Mac Prep & Prime Skin Base, it has that same texture. I think this would be a great primer for someone with normal to slightly dry skin, not so much for those with oily skin. Repurchase? I wouldn’t say no, but I do like the Mac one just a bit better.

Buxom Wildly Whipped Matte Lip Colour in Centerfold - I got this last year I think, with a Sephora order. I remember really wanting to try this out, I than promptly forgot about it. I pulled this out to try and found that it had dried up. The shade centrefold looked like a really great nude-y shade to. I wish I hadn’t forgotten about it, but oh well. This is the second liquid lip I have found so far that has dried out on me, the first being the Smashbox one, both of them were more of a whipped texture. Repurchase? Not sure, I would like to try out the formula but not if it is going to dry out quickly.

1 lonely candle burned.

1 lonely candle burned.

I didn’t intentionally not burn many candles last month, but I did seem to only use up one! The Yankee Candle in Spiced Pumpkin smells kind of spicy and kind of like burning wood. It isn’t a bad smelling candle, but I did get tired of it. I didnt notice a lot of a pumpkin smell, more of a spicy, wood burning smell. I don’t think I will pick up another one of these again.

And there you have it, my thoughts what I used up for April. Only 2 repeats this month, I don’t think that has happened before! I will hopefully remember to pull in more samples, I don’t plan on purchasing anything until I have made a good sized dent in the pile of samples that I seem to amassed. Do you have any trips on using up samples before they go off? I’d love to hear them.

New In For April 2019

Once again, I didnt really pick up much during the month of April. I didn’t even place a Sephora order during the Spring sale! I seem to have gone on an unintentional low-buy! I am really only picking things up as I need them, which is great for my bank account. I am also seeming to notice that none of the new releases are really drawing me in so far this year. But who knows maybe something will catch my eye soon.

2 blue polishes that came in for World Autism month.

2 blue polishes that came in for World Autism month.

I picked up one of the Morgan Taylor polishes (Take Me To Your Tribe) and my sister gave me the other (Rhythm and Blues). Morgan Taylor polishes are one of my favourite brands of polish, I haven’t had a dud yet. If you’d like to read my thoughts on these 2 colours you can read my post here.

Thanks to FarleyCo for sending me this great assortment of products to try out.

Thanks to FarleyCo for sending me this great assortment of products to try out.

FarleyCo sent me a great assortment of products to try out, Dry Shampoo, Hand Cream, Body Spray as well as a Face Mask. I am looking forward to trying out all this great products in the upcoming months. If you want to read more about these products you can see my post here.

During April I also received my sample box from Sample Source. I got in quite a few products to try out, quite a bit for my cat (He seems to really enjoy trying out the soft food!)! I got a nice assortment of products, and coupons, so that I can try these products out before I buy a full size. I have tried out a few of them already and some I have continued to buy. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Arm & Hammer laundry soap, I didn’t find it worked the best, but the Oxi Clean Laundry stuff is great!

I am on my last bottle of B&BW body cream so I picked up a bottle of the St Ives Refreshing to try out. You will see in my Trip Through My Trash post for April that I have finished up a bottle of this already. When I first used that bottle I didnt think it would be moisturizing enough for winter but thought that it would be great for the warmer months so this is the one I grabbed. Hopefully it smells great on, or at least doesn’t linger if its not the best smelling!

As you can see from what was new in , I really have slowed down on purchasing products. I am starting to think before I buy now, hence why not much new is coming in. But it is helping me to start using/trying out the products I already have.

DIY Reusable Cotton Squares for Earth Day

My husband and I are slowly, and I mean slowly!, going through the stuff we seem to have accumulated over the years in an attempt to get rid of/find stuff. A few weekends ago we decided to tackle my sewing/crafting/has no where else to be drawers and totes. While I was going through fabric I happened upon some scraps of flannel that was a tad discoloured and not really big enough to do much with. I remembered seeing a post about DIY Cotton Rounds and thought that the scraps of flannel would be great to use for that.

My take on DIY Cotton ‘Rounds’.

My take on DIY Cotton ‘Rounds’.

This past long weekend I decided to make myself some cotton rounds using up the scraps as well as it would give me a chance to drag out my sewing machine/serger to see if they were in working order before I tried to do something more adventurous. ps only 1 machine is in need of some work!

To make the cotton rounds all you really need is some flannel as well as your choice of sewing method, whether it be Machine/Serger/or by hand. I ended up using my serger, that thankfully is in good working order, after it took me 1.5 hours to get it threaded correctly! I also decided that since I have a TON of these Maxwell House coffee containers that I would make mine to fit in there, hence the square cotton rounds!

I am a huge fan of chain pieces anything I can instead of cutting everything out separately so my instructions will show that, I think it may have been quicker doing it that way to. Im not going to go into to much detail, partly because there isn’t a lot and also it went really quick.

  • I used my serger to straighten as well as sew my first seam down a length of flannel

  • I than cut my strip to almost my desired width, I added a 1/4 inch so that I would get a nice clean straight seam when I did the opposite side.

  • Serger up the other side

  • I than used a rotary cutter to cut each strip into 2.5 inch squares, the width of my container (or so I thought)

  • I serged up one side of the leftover opening, chaining them together (in other words I just kept feeding the next square in instead of stoping and starting)

  • After I cut the previous ones apart I went ahead and did the last open side the same way

  • Once I cut the final ones apart I decided to put some fray check on the corners in case I missed some ends, and also to seal the end of the seams, I didn’t want to take the time to tie each one.

And thats it! It took me maybe an hour or so to make over 50 of these cotton squares! Not to bad.

The finished product.

The finished product.

I thought that I might use the pink squares to remove eye makeup and the white for toner? I have put what I think I will need for a week in my container and that will sit in my bathroom. Once I go through a weeks worth I will just toss these into a washing bag in the washer and wash them with towels.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of how my coffee can looked so thought I would try to dress it up a bit.  I first tried to use some contact paper, that did not work out well at all!  Than I decided to just cover it with plain old Duct Tape, perfect solution!  The Duct Tape completely hid the writing on the can.

Having made these I am hoping to go through less cotton rounds, which I go through about a sleeve a month.  I will still buy my favourites from Dollarama as I will need them for removing nail polish!  I will keep you updated on how thee end up washing up and lasting.

ps. anyone have any other ideas for using up more of these coffee cans?!  We already use them to store small things (screws/nails/bits/etc) but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

SDM Fragrance Sampler - Mugler - Angel Muse

Time for my thoughts on the 7th and final fragrance from the 2016 SDM Fragrance Sampler that I picked up forever ago. I am finally on the last fragrance from the 2016 SDM Fragrance Sampler that I picked up during a Black Friday weekend Bonus Redemption weekend!  I had previously finished up with the Mascara Sampler that I picked up during that same shopping trip and luckily the Certificate was still good, here’s hoping the same for this one.

Seven beautiful mini perfume bottles.

Seven beautiful mini perfume bottles.

As with the SDM Mascara Sampler, I was hoping to give you my thoughts on each fragrance once a week, or hopefully every 2 weeks, well that didn’t work out quite as intended!  The fragrances I will be trying out each week are - Issey Miyake-L'Eau D'Issey Pure, Versace-Eros Pour Femme, Lancôme-Trésor La Nut, Giorgio Armani-Si, Chloe-Chloe, Salvatore Ferragamo-Signorina, Mugler-Angel Muse.  As I said in my intro post, there are a few fragrances included in this set that I already know that I like.

The seventh fragrance in the SDM Fragrance Sampler is Mugler - Angel Muse

SDM Fragrance Sampler-Angel MuseDSC05989.jpg

Here is what the SDM Fragrance Sampler Guide had to say about Mugler - Angel Muse -

Style: This cosmic whirlwind embodies the Mugler audacity and its refined avant-gardism style. It dives us into an unpredictable universe and attracts us into its magnetic field. It’s attractive strengths activate an irresistible addiction and spreads a new gourmands.

Tones: Woody Gourmand. A bold, bright, regressive and unsettling woody fragrance that spreads a new irritable gourmands. The first feminine vetyver gourmand. The attractive explosion invites you to enter addiction by fusing and bright notes of pomelo and pink berries. The addictive explosion plunges you into a new kind of addiction by a creamy and gourmand cocoa-hazelnut accord. A true delicious indulgence! The magnetic explosion propels you into the cosmos. It draws its character into a vibrant and magnetic vetyver, borrowed from the masculine perfumery. A futuristic gourmandise…

The Woman: A new Angel woman is born. Luminous and charming, she attracts attention. She magnetizes and fascinates by her aura. This young woman liberates her emotions she abandons herself to addiction. She shines and inspires. Her fragrance is so addictive that it makes you lose your mind.

Another mini that is identical to the full size!  I like the way that Mugler - Angel Muse smells, no floral notes that I can smell.  The scent is another fairly light one that I can wear while at work without anyone having issues with it.  The only problem I have with Angel Muse is that the scent doesn’t last long at all, only about 4 hours or so?  I can still catch a very faint scent after that but I do have to really press my nose to were I had put it.  My husband on the other hand is not a huge fan of this one though, he says it isn't bad just not his favorite.

I would give Mugler - Angel Muse a rating of 4 out of 5, but would have to knock it down because of my husband liking it as much.  I doubt that I will be getting the full size of this one.

If you would like to read my thoughts on the previous six Fragrances from the SDM Fragrance Sampler you can find them all here -

 Salvatore Ferragamo - Signorina

Chloè - Chloè

Giorgio Armani - Sì

Lancôme - La Nuit Trésor

Versace - Eros Pour Femme

Issey Miyake - L'Eau D'Issey Pure

I will be going to see if the gift certificate is still valid for a full size soon, probably by next weekend.  I will let you know if the certificate was still valid after almost 3 years, and what perfume I ended up picking as my full size.

New In For March 2019

Getting closer to the beginning of the month! That’s a huge win for me. Made it a lot easier since as you can see, I really didn’t have much come in for March. I have been in an organizing mood lately and have been re-organizing my makeup/office. That alone has made me realize I have a lot of stuff that I have never talked about on here before. Good thing about that is, I should have a lot more reviews coming up.

On to what came into my house for the month of March.

L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Day Cream- I was lucky enough to get the L’Oréal Revitalift Day Cream free from Topbox Circle to try out. I didn’t mind the cream, it is a very thick moisturizer though. I was actually surprised that it didn’t make my face oily or heavy feeling. I did find that it left my face feeling tacky, which in a way was good, I didn’t really need to use primer on the days that I used it. It has an SPF of 25 which is better than nothing, I do occasionally forget to use one so having some in the day cream was nice. I will say that if you are sensitive to scent, this is definitely not the moisturizer for you. It has a very strong floral scent that did seem to hang around for awhile, about 15 minutes or so.

Calgon Ageless Bath Exfoliating Mineral Scrub- You have probably seen this one before, it has become my body exfoliator of choice! If you want to see my thoughts on it you can check out my review on it here. Great body scrub and it’s $6.97 at Walmart.

Lancôme Cils Booster XL Mascara Booster- Another free sample from Topbox Circle. I have not really tried a mascara primer before so I am looking forward to giving this one a try. Have you used a mascara primer before? How did you like it?

So that’s all that was new in for me for the month of March. Not a lot but a few new to me things.

Trip Through My Trash - March 2018

Yay, getting my empties up during the first week of the month! I am re-organizing my space and have come across a few things that aren’t empty but they have started to smell a little funky so its time to get rid of those things. If you are interested in what I used up for the month of March, keep reading.

A decent amount of empties, a few oldies and a few new ones.

A decent amount of empties, a few oldies and a few new ones.

A fair amount of empties, only 3 of the products are tosses for me, sadly all are makeup related. I think I should really go through my collection and see what else is smelling funky, or the colour is off.

My hair and skin empties for March 2019.

My hair and skin empties for March 2019.

I ended up using up quite a few hair, skin, etc products during March. Only 1 of these products is a toss for me.

Living Proof flex shaping hairspray - I can’t remember where I picked up this travel size of a hairspray, I am thinking it must have been in a value set. They spray on this hairspray is really nice, more of a fine mist, that sprayed nice and evenly. It never left my hair feeling crunchy or hard. I was surprised by this hairspray, I hadn’t been using hairspray for quite awhile, now I have started using it again. Repurchase? Maybe, I liked it but I am sure there are good ones at the drugstore.

Thayers Witch Hazel in Rose - I have been using this toner for quite awhile now, have repurchased it quite a few times now. I do really like it, it doesn’t dry out my face but does get off the last little bits of makeup that may have been left behind. I have read, courteous of Makeup Your Mind (who is also running a giveaway to win this toner plus a lot of other Thayers products), that Thayers is going to be available at Loblaws/Walmart/etc! This makes me happy as my Health Food Store doesn’t always have them in stock. Repurchase? Probably, I do want to try an Apple Cider Vinegar toner I have seen first though.

live clean Argan Oil leave-in conditioner spray - I won this leave in conditioner from a giveaway, along with quite a few other live clean products, and am happy I did. I haven’t tried out a lot from live clean but the few products I have tried, I have liked. This is a nice light leave-in conditioner that didn’t weigh my hair down at all, just made it so much easier to comb through after washing. Repurchase? I might, I do have a few other leave-in conditioners to get through before I pick up another one.

BBW Fresh Sparkling Snow Foaming Hand Soap - You have probably seen these hand soaps in other Trash posts in one scent or other. We like the Fresh Sparkling Snow scent, its nice and light and not girly at all, which makes my husband and son happy! Repurchase? I think I may be getting over BBW soaps, they aren’t antibacterial anymore and that was one of the main reasons I bought them. I think once we are done with the ones we have now I may start trying other brands.

Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo Light Tones - This is the last dry shampoo that I got when I did the Elle Canada Beauty Grand Prix back in 2016. This was one of my favourites out of the bunch, and after having used up the bottle I still liked it. The white cast was so easy to brush out, and the scent was almost non-existent. Repurchase? I might, again once I get through the other dry shampoos I have.

Kirkland Daily Facial Towelettes - If you have been around here for any amount of time you have seen these makeup wipes a lot. They are in almost every Trash post I do. Repurchase? More than likely.

Schick Intuition Sensitive Care razor refill - And yet another product that is usually in every Trash post. Repurchase? Always

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask - I was happy to try out this deluxe sample of the lip balm that everyone and their mother loves! I have to admit that they weren’t wrong! I loved using this at night before bed, I would wake up with my lips still feeling moisturized and ready for the day. If you see the deluxe sample size as a point perk at all, it is well worth the points! I missed out on getting the set for the past holiday season and will be watching for it this year. Repurchase? Probably, as soon as I get through the bite one I am working on now.

Bite Agave Sugar Lip Scrub - This lip scrub is sadly a toss without ever having tried it. I found this stuck in a drawer and when I did the sniff test, it smells little funky. I am pretty sure I got this in a holiday kit at some point. I had great plans to try it out but sadly forgot about it. Repurchase? If it comes in another set I would happily give it a try.

Sephora Solid Brush Cleanser - I picked up this brush cleanser to get me to a spend for a beauty offer… But I have to say I am so happy I did! This stuff works great for getting most of the makeup off of my brushes and sponge. It does take a few times to get foundation off of a kabuki brush though. I haven’t tried the beauty blender solid cleanser to know how it compares, but I did find a deluxe sample of it so will be trying that one out next. I’ll be sure to let you know how it compares to this cheaper option. Repurhase? I already have one waiting to use so I won’t be needing to pick up a new one for awhile.

Calgon Ageless Bath Exfoliating Mineral Scrub - Not going to say a lot about this body scrub, if you want to see my thoughts on it you can check out my review here. Repurchase? I already have.

A few makeup goodies, half used up half tosses.

A few makeup goodies, half used up half tosses.

More than usual for Makeup trash. As you can see by the picture 2 of these products are tosses, sadly they went off before I could use them up.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation in Light Neutral - Another product that I have written a review on! If you want to read my thoughts on this now discontinued 😭, you can find that one here. Repurchase? If I could I would.

Mac Pro Longer Paint Pot in Painterly- These paint pots last forever! I use this everyday and it still took me over a year to go through it. I have oily lids and need to use 2 eye primers to get anything to last on my lids. I use this overtop of a traditional eye primer and is great for canceling out the discolouration on my lids. Since opening my new one though, I realize that this one had started to dry out. Repurchase? I already did.

The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer - Sadly this is a toss for me. I really like this primer, when its new it is a clear liquid. It does a great job at helping my foundation stay put, especially in the warmer months. It doesn’t however help with oiliness. The price of this primer is really nice as well, $7.90 CAD. I wish Sephora carried this primer as it would be easier to get free shipping. Repurchase? Maybe I do have a lot of primers to try out before I rebuy anything.

Quo Mini Sponge - I picked up a set of 6 of these sponges a few years ago, I think. I haven’t seen them in my local Shoppers in a while so I am wondering if they were discontinued as well? I found these to be as good as the mini beauty blender sponges but they were a lot cheaper than those, I want to say they were under $10 when I picked them up? This sponge doesn’t seem to be as ‘bouncy’ as it once was and doesn’t puff back to its original egg shape when I wet it, hence why I am tossing it. Repurchase? I have a few more left and would buy them again if I could.

Mac Viva Glam V - My third toss, well actually Back to Mac it. This lipstick is OLD! It was one of the first products I bought from Mac for my sisters wedding back in 2013. When I opened the tube I got a whiff of the old crayon smell telling me that this one is past its time. It is a nice neutral shade but it has a bit to much glitter in it for my liking now. Repurchase? Not this shade, but I do love Mac lipsticks!

Only 1 votive burned in March…

Only 1 votive burned in March…

I only ended up burning 1 votive last month…But I do like this scent! The Yankee Candle Juicy Citrus & Sea Salt candle is a nice lightly scented one. It isn’t the strongest smelling candle ever, but it is enough to fill a room. The citrus scent is on the lighter side, so if you are looking for a very citrus-y scent this isn’t the one for you. I found it was enough to start getting me in the mood for more fresher scents, hopefully the weather will start to co-operate so that these types of scents are more in line with whats going on outside.

So that was my Trip Through My Trash for March, a few new products with only a couple regular ones! I have a few more powder foundations to try out, ill get reviews on them up soon (hopefully they aren’t discontinued as well 😞). Did you use up anything that has been discontinued lately? Were you able to find a replacement?

2 Blue Morgan Taylor Nail Polishes for World Autism Awareness Day

April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day and people are wearing blue to raise awareness for the disorder. This is a cause that is close to me, my son has ASD. 1 in 66 children are diagnosed with Autism, so chances are you know someone to. Autism Awareness is represented by both the colour blue as well as multicolour puzzle pieces.

To show my support for World Autism Awareness Day, I of course decided to wear blue polish! I knew I wanted to wear a shimmer shade as well as a creme, but I didn’t have exactly what I had in mind. My sister on the other hand had the Morgan Taylor polish in Rhythm and Blues, as soon as I saw it that’s what I wanted. I headed off to CosmoProf to find a creme shade to wear with it.

So for Autism Awareness Day I am wearing a couple of beautiful blue polishes from one of my favourite brands of nail polish, Morgan Taylor. The 2 shades I picked out are ‘Take Me To Your Tribe’ as well as ‘Rhythm And Blues’. Both of these shades are available at Nail Polish Canada, I’m not sure what collection they are from, or even if they are from the same collection. My sister gave me Rhythm and Blues and I picked up Take Me To Your Tribe today.

Take Me To Your Tribe is described as a periwinkle blue creme, I love this shade. To me it is a perfect denim/baby blue that I think would look great on a variety of skin tones. Rhythm And Blues is described as a silvery blue metallic shimmer, beautiful. However you want to describe it, its a beautiful blue shimmer that I think looks great with Take Me To Your Tribe.

Are you wearing blue polish today for World Autism Awareness Day? What shade/s? Let me know what your favourite blue polishes are.

Urban Decay - Troublemaker Mascara Review

So in keeping with finally getting back to doing some reviews, I thought id share my thoughts on the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara mini that I have had sitting around for awhile.

Beautiful packaging, even on the mini of the urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara.

Beautiful packaging, even on the mini of the urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara.

Here is what the Sephora website has to say about the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara -

A failsafe mascara that delivers a lengthening, perfectly fanned-out look with extreme volume for longer, thicker-looking lashes.

Troublemaker Mascara’s formula volumizes and lengthens as it separates lashes. It’s infused with a combination of hollow silica and ultra-light fibers to boost volume without the extra weight. Vitamin E and panthenol nourish and condition, and a combination of polymers helps the mascara adhere to your lashes for lasting wear—no flaking, smearing, or smudging.

The custom-designed brush combs and separates lashes to make it look like you have more of them. Tiny precision hooks grab lashes to pull the product through for an instant lash-multiplying effect. The brush actually fans out lashes as it coats them, separating and curling each lash while laying down the perfect amount of mascara. And it’s designed to reach even tiny inner-corner lashes, no matter which way you hold it.

Based on 3-D volume effect analysis in a 34-subject study:
- Delivers 13.7x the lash volume

The Urban Decay Troublemaker mascara does come in a beautiful holographic tube, I was actually surprised that the deluxe sample that I have of the mascara is even in the same packaging. The wand is a plastic brush that does look like it could hurt! I haven’t had any issues with poling myself in the eye yet though. I have found that it does a great job of separating my lashes and I havve’t had any issues with it clumping my lashes at all. I find it does a great job of coating all of my lashes with a rich black color. I did notice slight lengthening, not a lot of volume though. I had no flaking throughout the day either. The only issue I have had is that if my eyes watered at all, it would smudge. It does take a little more time to remove at night, I found that I needed to hold the cotton pad with eye makeup remover on it, on my eye a little longer than others. It wasn’t as hard to remove as waterproof mascara, but it take a little more work. I actually was surprised that it held up so well for me as I didn’t have the best of luck when I tried out the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara.

As you can see from the above photo, the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara gave my lashes a rich black color and lots of length. I really like how it made my lashes look, i’m not sure if I like it enough to spend $31.00 CAD for a full size though. I have another 20+ mascaras, both full size and minis, to try out, so I won’t be in the market to purchase one for quite awhile!

Have you tried the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara? How did you like it? What are your favourite mascaras, i’d love to hear what they are.

Morgan Taylor - Hollywood's Sweetheart

I am hoping to get back into doing my nails weekly and decided to start off with a polish from my favourite brand, Morgan Taylor. I have just recently found out that us Canadians can get Morgan Taylor at Nail Polish Canada! I get mine at CosmoProf, but now I can link to Nail Polish Canada if you are interested in picking up any shades.

Hollywood’s Sweetheart was part of the 2018 Forever Fabulous Marilyn Monroe Collection which consists of 12 shades ranging from a beige nude to a deep brown with a few shimmers/glitters in the mix as well. I of course went right for the light pinky nude!

I love the formula of Morgan Taylor polishes, both the minis and the full size bottles, all have the same formula and brush. I have 25 Morgan Taylor polishes with a mix of both minis and full size, and I have only ever had 1 brush that was not good. The brush is almost big enough that I could do 1 stroke of the polish and have it cover my whole nail.

Hollywood’s Sweetheart is a beautiful pinky nude creme shade that covered perfectly with only 2 coats. I am expecting this polish to last on my nails for the week, I have rarely had any that don’t!

SDM Fragrance Sampler - Signorina - Salvatore Ferragamo

Time for me to get back to my thoughts on the fragrances from the 2016 SDM Fragrance Sampler that I picked up forever ago. I am on the 6th fragrance from the 2016 SDM Fragrance Sampler that I picked up during a Black Friday weekend Bonus Redemption weekend!  I had previously finished up with the Mascara Sampler that I picked up during that same shopping trip and luckily the Certificate was still good, here’s hoping the same for this one.

All seven of the beautiful deluxe sized samples included in my 2016 SDM Fragrance Sampler.

All seven of the beautiful deluxe sized samples included in my 2016 SDM Fragrance Sampler.

The sixth fragrance in the SDM Fragrance Sampler is Salvatore Ferragamo - Signorina

SDM Fragrance Sampler-SignorinaDSC05977.jpg

Here is what the SDM Fragrance Sampler Guide had to say about Salvatore Ferragamo - Signorina

Style: Signorina is the celebration of chic girls with a sophisticated, subtly cheeky, and fresh scent signature. A fragrance creation with the elegant and all Italian style by Salvatore Ferragamo.

Tones: A fragrance which represents the alliance of elegance and memorability with the reinterpretation of the iconic jasmine and the unexpected and delicate sweetness of pannacotta.

The Woman: Signorina is a fragrance dedicated to trendy feminine young ladies with timeless modernity, creativity, and a hint of audacity. Stylish, truly Italian, fresh and full of life.

As with all the other fragrances, a beautiful bottle! Once again it is almost identical to the full size bottle, down to a ribbon on the bottle. I hadn’t tried this fragrance for quite a while and had forgotten what it smelled like,I tried to smell it from the bottle to see if that would remind me but could barely smell anything at all. I put it on and still could barely smell anything, what i did smell was light and fresh. As i was driving to work an hour later all i could smell was flowers and elderly lady scent and couldn’t figure it out right away that it was me! Once i did, it was started to get overpowering. I knew that this was not a scent i could be wearing in a hospital setting. I tried getting rid of the scent with alcohol hand sanitizer and it wasn’t going away very quickly, i must have rubbed the sanitizer on wherever i had put the perfume at least 5 times and was washing with soap. I did finally get the scent down some to where i was the only one who could really smell it unless you got to close to me.

Needless to say this will not be the fragrance that i try to pick up with my gift certificate. If you floral scents this may be a good one for you, the scent does last quite long on the skin… For me i would give Signorina only 2 out of 5.

If you would like to read my thoughts on the previous five Fragrances from the SDM Fragrance Sampler you can find them all here -

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation Review

I have finally started using the Urban Decay Ultra Definition Powder in Light Neutral as a powder foundation. And since I have had this product forever, it seems like it may be hard to find, maybe getting discontinued?! I have looked at Urban Decay Canada, Sephora, and Beauty Boutique online and none of the sites are carrying this shade anymore. Urban Decay and Sephora both have a few darker shades and everything else is out of stock.

The packaging and newness of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation.

The packaging and newness of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation.

I had picked up the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation in May of 2015…. I used it off and on as setting type powder since I picked it up, but it has really been the past month that I started using it as a powder foundation.

The packaging for the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation is beautiful, but the shiny surface does pick up finger prints, etc very easily. The powder foundation is supposed to be able to be used either wet or dry with the included sponge. You get 9g of product as well as a sponge to apply it with. as you can see from the state of the sponge, I did try to use it both wet and dry. I didn’t like how it looked either way when I used the sponge, it looked heavy and cake-y and I had a hard time blending it in. I started using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and loved how it looked! I found that I could easily get a light to medium coverage, enough to cover redness but not enough to cover an age spot that I have on my cheek. I loved the coverage that I got though, it was perfect since I wasn’t able to wear eye makeup and I just really wanted to even out my skin tone and look a bit more ‘alive’ when I went back to work. I was actually surprised at how well the powder foundation lasted on my skin. It easily lasted through an 8 hour workday for me. When I would wash my face at the end of the day, after 10 hours, I would have quite a bit of foundation coming off with my makeup wipe. It didn’t settle into my lines or pores either, everything I thought I knew about powder foundation; cake-y, dry looking, no lasting power, none of this held true with the Urban Decay. I actually got compliments on how good my skin looked! For me that was a big thing as I have always gone to work with a full face of makeup on, having had to go with only this powder and some blush, I was surprised.

As you can see from the sad state of the powder in the last picture that I used it a lot! I was having issues getting product on my brush, and also didn’t want to risk ruining my brush, so I decided I would try repressing the last bit into the middle of the pan so I could use up the last of it.

When I found that I couldn’t get the Light Neutral shade of the foundation I decided to try repressing the last bit of powder to get to the last of it. I first broke up the last of the powder and tried to get the pieces as fine as possible. I mixed in the 91% alcohol from an eye dropper until I had the consistency shown in the last picture. It only took a day or so for it harden and I am happily continuing to use the last bit left to me. I haven’t noticed any change in the powder since I did this which makes me happy.

Since I started using this product and have found that it is hard to find now has made me realize that maybe I have more than enough makeup to last me for awhile…. I decided to write this review even though I can’t get the product anymore, for those of you who may have this sitting around or have a darker complexion and can get this in your shade, and didn’t like it using the sponge. Try using a flat buffing brush instead, it completely changed my mind about powder foundation and I can’t wait to try out some more that I have in my collection.

And of course since I have already scheduled this post to go live, I have heard back from Urban Decay, and the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation has in fact been discontinued 😞. As per the email I was sent there is no product to replace it as of yet.

New In February 2019

I have really been slowing down on what I have been picking up each month lately with not being able to wear much makeup. The few things I did pick up were either on a really good sale, or something I thought I needed.

I picked up these 1/2 oz glass dropper bottles on Amazon to go with the skincare set that I won from a Hot & Flashy giveaway. It was actually cheaper to buy a set of 24 versus 12 so my sister and I split on it. I figured I can always use them to decant bigger bottles of serum or other products. The set I linked above was just under $15.00 CAD for 24, a pretty good deal I think, unfortunately that set is no longer available but I am sure if you do a search for them you can find another great deal. I am wanting to start using vitamin C and other serums and have read that they have a shorter shelf life than what I may be able to use in 1 oz size so if I can store it in 1/2 sizes I thought that would be a good idea.

I won this Timeless skincare set from Hot & Flashy’s 400k giveaway contest in January. This set is what prompted me to search out the above glass dropper bottles. The set includes Vitamin C, Vitamin B5, Matrixyl 3000, Matrixyl S6 and an HA Spray with Matrixyl 300 + Rose Extract. All of the serums are in a 1 oz glass dropper bottle. I am going to slowly add in each serum starting with the Vitamin C one.

And here are the 3 products that I picked up on a huge discount! The Wet n Wild set was on clearance for only $1.94 CAD! I use Brûlée most days that I wear eyeshadow to set my shadow and as a matte brow bone highlight. That one shadow alone is almost the cost of the set so the rest I will get to try for basically free. The Physicians Formula lip set I found on clearance for $8.94 CAD which was another great find. There are 13 shades of the Physcians Formula Healthy Lips in mini size, which is about half the size of a full size, and 1 full size of The Healthy Lip Transformer shade. I probably won’t use half of the shades in the set but I do know a few people who will gladly take those off my hands. I have been on the hunt for a new Clarifying shampoo to use weekly on my hair and say the Tresemme one on sale for $3.94 and thought I would give that one a try, for that price I am not out much even if its not quite what I am looking for.

So thats what was new in for me in February, I got a few great deals I think. Some new to me brands and things to try out. Did you pick up anything new and great in February? Any great finds? Let me know.

Trip Through My Trash - February 2019

It’s that time of the month, the time where I get to see if I used up anything good or new. Out of the 12 products I used up in February only 3 are repeats. I think thats a record for me. I am still not wearing much makeup unfortunately, nor am I doing much skincare. Hopefully soon!

A small amount of empties for February 2019.

A small amount of empties for February 2019.

I ended up using a very small amount of products in February, but I do remember them all!

Not a lot of products finished in February.

Not a lot of products finished in February.

Quite a few different from usual empties.

B&BW At The Beach 24 Hour Moisture Ultra Shea Body Cream - I usually use some scent or other of the B&BW 24 Hour Cream in the cooler months. They work well and keep me from getting to dry during winter. The At The Beach scent wasn’t to overpowering and did tend to fade fairly quickly for me, which I like. I did pick up the body wash at the same time but had half the bottle left when I finished up the area, I think I need to pick up 2 bottles of lotion for each bottle of body wash! Repurchase? Yes

Fluffs Cotton Pads - My cotton pads of choice! Not quite as many as last month! Not much else I can say about these cotton pads, I like them. Repurchase? Yes.

Neat & Easy Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - I have been using the nose strips again as I have found that since I am still not following a regular skincare routine yet, still having a few issues with my eyes. I have been having a few clogged pores on my nose and these have been doing the trick and removing the gunk with out any fear of anything getting in my eyes. They work just as well as the other nose strips, I was just trying to get away from using them. Repurchase? Possibly.

Dove Daily Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner - Not sure where I came up with these 2 samples. They were ok, nothing fantastic. I didnt find that they were the most moisturizing I have used, but they did the job. The conditioner was just average, nothing to write home about. The shampoo did lather well and did just an ok job of cleansing my hair. Purchase? Doubt it.

Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel - I got this cleanser in a set awhile ago in a small set during either a Black Friday or Boxing Day sale along with the Beauty Oil and Konjac sponge. I finally got around to trying out the products from that set. I liked this cleanser, it didn’t really have a scent to it which was kind of nice, nor did it feel drying on my face. The only issue I had with it was the packaging, I ended up having to unscrew the pump to get the bottom 1/2 inch of cleanser out. The tube didn’t reach all the way to the bottom. Repurchase? Maybe? It didn’t wow me and it does cost more than the Purity that I usually use.

Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil - I liked this oil and was using it day and night without any issues. My face never looked oily nor dry while I was using it either. Again my issue was the packaging, as you can see from the picture there is still quite a bit of oil left in the bottle that I can’t get out. The dropper will not come off of the bottle, it is somehow stuck on there and I can’t twist it open. Repurchase? I doubt it, I liked it but having had issues with both this and the cleanser doesn’t make me want to try it again.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream - I got this cream in a recent Boxy Charm and thought I would try it out to see if using it for a longer amount of time would let me see what the hype is about it. It is a fairly moisturizing cream that the moisture lasted long on my skin. Unfortunately the scent also really lasts on the skin, it overpowers pretty much any else that I put on after using it. I could still smell the cream the next morning after using it. The scent is to strong for me, or my workplace. Repurchase? Nope.

Bite Agave Lip Balm - I was really looking forward to using the Bite Agave Lip Balm as I have used the lip mask and really liked it. It is a really thick lip balm though, almost as thick as the mask. It tugged whenever I applied it to my lips which wasn’t the greatest feeling. I didn’t find it to be as moisturizing as I thought it would be either. Repurchase? Doubt it.

Boscia Konjac Cleansning Sponge - I have never used a Konjac sponge before so was looking forward to trying this one out. I don’t get the hype of them though? Maybe because mine was only a small one? I didn’t notice that it had done a better job than my Clarisonic or even just using my hands. Repurchase? Doubt it

2 little votives burned last month.

2 little votives burned last month.

I didnt end up burning much for candles last month, which is unlike me! 1 I liked, 1 not so much. I am trying to get through my stash of ever growing products including candles before I go out picking up more. I am running out of room to store stuff and don’t want to get anything else to store more stuff. I liked the Golden Sands scent quite a bit, it has sandalwood and orange which together is great. It isn’t the strongest scent but does fill the room that I burned it in. The Honeydew Melon one was not my favourite at all, it didn’t smell like any honeydew melon i’ve smelled before. It smelled somewhat musty, not a great scent for me at all.

So a smaller than usual Trip Through My Trash for February 2019, but a few newer products in the mix this time. I am planning on continuing to use up products that I have sitting in drawers/boxes/etc, I have more stuff than I should sitting in drawers! This should mean that I will be getting back to doing some reviews soon! Here’s hoping anyway.
