I thought it was probably about time I gave you an update on the Sephora Favorites - Give Me Some Lip set I picked up back in August! I picked up this little lip set in August after the girls in the CBB where talking about it and finding it in store. It is now back in stock on Sephora.ca as well as in-store, so I thought it would be a good time to show you some swatches and my thoughts on the set.
For $30 CAD you get (swatches are in this order)-
Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in 'Coral Blossom' (Full Size) - described as Salmon Pink
Sephora Rouge Infusion in '19 Peony' (Deluxe Sample) - sorry, there was no description on Sephora for this shade!
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in 'Lolita' (Deluxe Sample) - described as Chesnut Rose
Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in 'Rose' (Deluxe Sample) - described as Sheer Berry Rose
Make Up Forever Artist Plexi-Gloss In '202' (Deluxe Sample) - described as Sweet Pink (sheer)
Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in 'Je'taime' (Deluxe Sample) - described as a Rum Rasberry
The Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick is $20 CAD for a full size so if you like the color/formula of these lipsticks you are esentially getting the other 5 deluxe samples for $2 each! That isn't a bad deal at all. Especially if you are like me and love trying out different brands. I was surpirsed that this Favorities set was released so late in the summer as the only full size product seems to me to be a perfect summer lip color. The Tarte Lip Butter is not an opaque lipstick by any means but it is so comfortable to wear. It lasts on me for about 2-3 hours, which isn't great but not the worst I have tried. I can get past the short wear time as it almost feels like a balm when I apply it.
The Sephora Rouge Infusion in Peony is an almost darker pink nude. It is darker than I expected but I still like it. It has a doe foot applicator that makes it really easy to apply. I found that this was quite comfortable to wear, it didn't dry out my lips at all which was nice! It dryed down quickly and lasted for a couple of hours, than leaving a slight stain behind. Full size is $18 CAD.
Kat Von D Everlasting Lipstick in 'Lolita' was one of the reasons I bought the set! This was a lip color that was constantly sold out in store and online. I wanted to try it out to see what all the hype was about! It is a darker browny nude, falls right in line with the brown/nude lip trend. This one was quite abit thicker than the Sephora lip stain and dried down quite quickly. It does settle into lip lines though, so I would definietly use a balm first. Full size is $24 CAD.
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose seems to be in every lip set. It is an ok lip balm, goes on smoothly with a hint of color. But I do think they are overpriced for what you get. I like getting them in these sets so I have not bought one in a full size. Full size is $26 CAD.
Make Up Forever Artist Plexi-Gloss in 202 is your typical gloss, a little to sticky for me. It has a slight tint to it that can slightly lighten up a lip color if you find your lip color a little to dark. It is very shiny though! My hair got stuck in it, so best worn when not going outside! Full size is $23 CAD.
Lastly the Marc Jacobs Lip Creme in Je'taime is a darker, almost bright reddy colour on me. I really wanted to try out this formula to see if I liked it. The colour is not for me but the formula is fantastic! It wore well for about 4 hours! It seemed similar to the Nars Audacious formula, it was smooth going on and lasted so well! I may pick one of these up during the November VIB sale. Full size is $38 CAD.
I was most surprised by the Sephora Rouge Infusion, I haven't really tried much from the brand but I will definietly look a little closer at the brand now, especially the Rouge Infusion. I was a little sad about the Kat Von D being so drying, I really wanted to like it! I may try mixing it with another colour to see if I can get to work better for me.
I am really glad that I picked up this set as I found a few formulas that I like and may pick up a full size of during a VIB or if they have a good Holiday set happening. How about you, do you buy any of the mini sets to try out different formulas/colours? Have you ever been surprised by what you actually liked from them?
