I was lucky enough to be able to go to Imats in Toronto again this year. They changed the date and instead of it being in November it was held September 26-27. The weather was much nicer this time around, no need for coats. I went again with my sister and friend, we had so much fun last year that we decided to do it again! We went on the Saturday again and by the time we got there at 1030 it was packed. I was planning on meeting up with some of the girls from the Canadian Beauty Bloggers for lunch at 1140 so I knew that I wouldn't have much time before lunch. I remembered from last year that it seemed to get a lot less crowded in the afternoon so I wasn't to worried about not doing any shopping before lunch.
This is what it looked like when I got there.
There was a line up for basically every booth. It was really hard to get to see anything let alone swatch! I was more than happy to wait it out as there really wasn't much that I really wanted, except brushes-I always want more brushes! We wandered around for an hour just kind of people watching and trying to see if any of the boothes were having any great deals so we would know where to go when we came back.
The ladies of the CBB
I had such a great time meeting and chatting with these lovely ladies that I had only briefly chatted with online before. It was nice to relax and have lunch with these ladies and than head back to the chaos of Imats!
When we headed back into the convention centre it had not gotten any better. We decided to just brave it out and wait in lines. I was walking by the NYX when I saw that they were putting out the contour palette, I have been looking for it since I first saw people on YouTube talking about it. I asked for 2 than tryed to find the end of the line to pay...it wrapped around the booth and down the front of the hall! I had been wanting this palette for quite awhile though so decided to brave it out and wait. My sister also wanted the palette so we decided to take turns waiting in line, while one was in the line the other went to go see if there was anything else.
On one of my 'free' times I went my Inglot and there was hardly anyone there! My friend Sue said she loved there Eyeshadow primer so I was wanting to try that out, I used to love Urban Decays Anti-aging Eyeshadow Primer but I think they changed the formula when they changed the packaging. They were only offering a 10% discount but I had been wanting to try out a few things from them. I was able to swatch and pick out my few items and pay all within 20 min. By the time I got back to the NYX line we were only about 15 people away from the checkout. I was able to get the palette for under $25 CAD, it sells for $25 USD I believe.
While I was waiting in the NYX line I was chatting with another lady and she was telling me that I had to try the Naked pigments. She said they were great and that you could use or mix them with anything; nail polish, moisturizer, clear gloss, use them as eye shadow, blush, pretty much whatever you can thin to mix a pigment with you can do with these. They are pure pigments so there is no filler at all and they are so pigmented! They had a special of 1 stack for $40 or 2 for $65, my sister and I decided we would split the price and each picked up one. She picked up the pinker one while I went for neutrals as always!
We were wanting to get a few Morphe brushes and to see if they had any of the newer eyeshadow palettes in but the wait in the line up there was over 3 hour long! My time is worth more than any deal they could have been offering. So we decided to completely skip that one.
I was able to hit up Bdellium Tools, Royal & Langnickel and Cici Fashion Brush? Frends was also there with Sigma brushes. So I was able to pick up a few new brushes as well as a couple of repeats from last year.
On my last 'sweep' of the convention centre I came across the Makeup Academy booth and they were selling mugs, t-shirts, and other things all with the Imats logo on them. I decided I needed to get a mug this year, it was only $10 so I figured why not! The mug is huge! It will make a good soup or hot chocolate mug for the winter.
I had a great time at Imats this year, even if I wasn't able to get everything I was after. I am more than happy with what I was able to pick up and they way I look at, what I saved from not spending what I had budgeted for Imats can be used for Holiday kits! There are a few that I have my eye on already, and one that may already be here.
