When I first saw the Kat Von D - Mi Vida Loca Palette, my first thought was 'That's alot of color!'. I swatched it in store and the shadows were so pigmented and I thought that it would be a great way to try to break out of my neutral loving ways and add some color. The Mi Vida Loca palette retails for $71 CAD plus tax on Sephora.ca, which is a gret price for the amount of shadows you get-24 shades! The eyeshadows have a unique arrangement, they are arranged in circle, with the colorful shadow in the outer ring and the neutrals in the centre. It is a fairly large palette and will not fit in most peoples eyeshadow storage solutions. I wouldn't want to put this palette in a drawer though as the packaging is beautiful. The front cover is an original design by Kat Von D and is beautiful. The shadows slide out of the side, like a record, which is different. Also to note, there is no mirror included in the palette. There is however a look chart with 3 different looks you can create using the palette using almost all different shades, the only shade repeated in the look cards is 'Legend'. I think I might try out the first look called 'dark wave', I just don't see myself going through with 'dark wave' on th elower lash line!
I have not tried out the palette yet, still a little intimidated by all the colors! But if the swatches are any indication, they will be pigmented and blend great! I swatched all the shades on the back of my hand without primer.
Swatches of the Kat Von D - Mi Vida Loca -
Echo - purple glitter - the glitter in this shade is fine and not chunky
Dark Wave - deep navy - I am not sure where navy comes in! To me it is a medium matte blue.
Synth - electric blue - This is definietly an electric blue!
Hyperballad - sea blue - This one is more of a teal blue to me that was slightly patchy
Lemmy - grass green - This one has a frost finish that is perfect! It is a beautiful warm green.
Misfit - kelly green - This slightly yellow toned green has very fine micro shimmers
Vinyl - neon green - Getting more yellow in the green here! This one was fairly sheer but I am sure if you used a base/primer it would pop a lot more.
Legend - golden yellow - This is a pale yellow that I can see very slight shimmer in, it doesn't show up the best on my skin but again, I think with a base it would be great!
Fran - deep mustard yellow - BAM! here's a yellow for you! Fran swatched beautifully on bare skin.
Analogue - burnt orange - A beautiful orange that isn't to orange! This would make a great crease shade!
Harpsicord - metallic bronze - A slightly peachy bronze frosted shade that again, swatched great.
Rewind - aubergine - a warm burgundy shade that appears slightly satin
Destroyer - bright strawberry - A matte warm pinky red
Swoon - fushia - another bright shade, this time in pink!
Löve - shimmery rose - a frosty light pink
Anthem - purple - A brighter purple than I am used to
Muse - lilac purple - a cooler light purple with fine shimmer
Strutter - taupe - a matte warm taupe brown, a great blending shade for me I think!
Lyric - white pearl - a light beige with fine shimmer
Black Metal - matte black - This one was not pigmented at all for me. It is a matte black, but I have a lot better matte blacks in other palettes
Skulls - iridescent pearl - a somewhat metallic white
Noble - nude - A matte peachy brown that will make for a great crease/blending shade for me
Moulder - butter yellow - to me a slightly beige tone with a satin finish
Vox - chocolate brown - matte dark brown, great for darkening up a look or using as a liner!
For the most part, the shadows all swatched great. I have not seen a single palette with this array of shadows before. You truly have the colors of the rainbow at your fingertips. I am hoping to try out this palette sooner rather than later. This palette does have a lot of bright color, but I also think it has some very wearable colors as well. I have just checked and the Kat Von D - Mi Vida Loca palette is sold out online but I have seen it still in store. If you are the least bit interested in this stunner of a palette I would suggest checking out your local Sephora to see if they have any in stock.
What do you think of the colors in this palette?
