When I found out Mac was the Canadian Beauty Bloggers brand of the month I was a little excited! Mac was the first higher end make up that i bought. It was also where my little obsession with make up started. My sister was finally getting married 2 years ago(she has been engaged to the same guy forever!) and she wanted to get ideas for makeup for her wedding and decided she wanted to go to Mac. So off we went to get our makeup done for ideas. Well I found more than ideas there! A whole new world opened up to me! I wanted it all! I settled for picking up a Mac Painterly paint pot, False Lashes mascara, Prep + Prime Lash, and a Penultimate liner. I also left with a face card and list of other things I would need to get the look she did for me. I went home with my goodies and my sister got me started watching YouTube videos and the rest was history!
I didn't know that you could get Mac in Sized To Go/travel size of Mac products until I was looking at their website. The Mac store at the mall closest to me is in The Bay so it is not a free standing store. I found out that the freestanding or pro stores carried the Sized To Go and I had to try a few things out. All the Sized To Go are $12 CAD which to me is not a bad price to try something out and if you like it and use it alot than you can go ahead and purchase the full size.
I have purchased a few things that I had wanted to try but was unsure of a full size. The Fix + is the perfect size for in my purse to spray when I am having a hot moment at work! I know that the Sized To go size of this is not a great deal, full size is $26 CAD for 3.4 oz or $7.65/oz where as the mini is $12/oz. But I looked at it as I can refill it and will always have the nice spray!
The Strobe Cream I had read that some people used it mixed into a more matte foundation to give it a bit of luminosity so I had to try that out. I really like mixing a small amount of this in with Estee Lauder Double Wear, it just gives it that little bit more and does not affect its staying power at all. It is a better price to actually buy this one in the Sized To Go size surprisingly. It is priced at $40 Cad for 1.7 oz and the Sized To Go is still $12 CAD for an ounce! I will continue to purchase this in the Sized To Go size.
The Pigments I have are Melon and Naked. I had seen a tutorial using the Melon one and wanted to try it out but really didn't think I would use up a full size so I was glad when I found out that this came in the Sized To go size in this color. You can't get all the pigments in Sized To Go size but you can get Rose, Old Gold, Kitschmas, Blue Brown, Violet, Vanilla, Melon and Naked. The full size retails for $25 Cad for .15oz or $12 for .09 oz. Again if the color you want is in Sized To Go, that's the better price.
Lastly I picked up the Sized To Go of a Lipglass. I was somewhat interested in these but had read a lot of reviews that they were very sticky, that is the one thing I don't like about most glosses. It is a bit sticky when you first put it on but not uncomfortable so. I picked this up in the color Pink Poodle. The other shades available are-C-Thru, Saint Germain, Prrr, Pink Lemonade, Lovechild, Oh Baby and Rebel. I had wanted to try Rebel but they were out when I went. The price for a full size Lipglass is $18 CAD for 0.17 oz, the Sized To GO is 0.08 oz. So better price on the full size for that one, although the Sized To Go would be a great size to keep with you.
The other products you can get in the Sized To Go size are skincare and a few mascaras. In skincare you can get - Pro Eye Makeup Remover, Cleanse Off OIl/Tranquil, Green gel Cleanser, Studio Moisture Cream, Oil Control Lotion, and the Wipes. These are all 1 oz in size so perfect for travel/purse. The mascaras you can get are - False Lashes, False Lashes Extreme Black, Zoom Fast Black Lash, and Zoom Lash. The mascaras all come in a 4g size, approx half the size of a full size which is 8g and for these mascaras the price is $20-$26. The products that are bolded are the ones that are actually cheaper to buy in the Sized To Go size vs full size. The next one I will be picking up to try is the Oil Control Cream, hoping it will help with my newly oily nose!
The only downside to these products are that they are not eligible for Back To Mac. But if you see some of the differences in price, for example the Strobe cream is $12 for 1 oz vs $40 for 1.7 oz. With that difference in price I can get more product buying 2 Sized To Go size for $24 and still have almost enough left over to buy a lipstick! So I don't really see that as a downside!
Did any of you know about the Sized To Go? What are your thoughts on the Oil Control Cream? Is it worth it to try?
