So I decided to treat myself to a few new skincare items for my birthday this year. Usually I would have gone for a new palette or some type of colorful cosmetics but this year I decided to try a few new skin care items.
I ran out of my moisturizer last month and there hasn't been a good GWP for Clinique so I thought I would try out the Origins one. This Origins 'Just The Essentials' set has a Cheeks and Balance, which I have tried a sample of before and liked it. Clear Improvement active charcoal face mask, have not tried this before. Modern Friction , have not tried this nor heard anything about it. And lastly the GinZing energy boosting moisturizer, I have heard good things about this and thought now would be a good time to try it. This kit sells for $25 CAD on Sephora. I really like getting Sephoras value kits as you get to try out quite a few products for a fairly good price.
Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel, I little while ago I had seen quite a few blogs talking about this toner and I figured I might as well give it a try. I have been trying a Chamomile toner from the Body Shop but every time I use it, within a week I start breaking out so I am giving up on that one.
Clarisonic Delicate brush heads, I was in need of new brush heads and a co-worker said that she really liked these ones over the Sensitive ones I usually get. She had told me that they were a lot softer and did a great job for her, so I figured why not give them a try.
Sephoras Birthday gift this year is a great one, Nars lip pencils in Rikugien(Satin) and Cruella (Velvet Matte), and if you are a Rouge (AKA spent far to much at Sephora last year) you also received a Larger Than Life Longwear Eyeliner in Via Veneto. Rikugien is a beautiful neutral somewhat sheer pink color, whereas Cruella is a bold matte red. I think I will get the most use out of Rikugein though as I am somewhat conservative in lip color. The Larger Than LIfe eyeliner is a creamy smooth black eyeliner that I have heard only good things about, I am excited to give this a go! I am really liking the Sephora birthday gift this year as I think it has something for everyone. I have not tried much of anything form Nars before so this will give me a chance to try out a few products. I added in the Sephora Ultimate oil-in-gel lipstick remover as I have been finding a few lip products are staying around a bit longer than I'd like!
When I placed my Sephora order if you spent over $50 Cad you could enter a code to get a few Giorgio Armani products, this was part of the reason I ordered some things online! I was kind of excited with the chance to try out a few products from Giogio Armani as I have not tried anything form the line before. In the gift bag I received Black Ecstasy total effect intensity mascara, who doesn't need another mascara sample to try?! Lip Maestro intense velvet color in 400? This is a bright in your face red! I am not sure if I will have the guts to wear this outside of the house but it will give me a chance to tryout the formuala! And lastly fluid sheer in 2, I was really unsure as to what this was! I think it is a liquid highlighter similar to Macs Strobe Cream?
For my 3 free samples I picked the Guerlain Cils D'Enfer so Volume mascara, like I said before who doesn't need more mascara samples! The Estee Lauder Perfectionist foundation, I have heard many people say that they like this one so I thought I would give it a try. And lastly La vie est belle Lancome perfume sample, I have not tried this perfume out so I figured why not?! I usually get at least one perfume sample in any order I place with Sephora, I like trying out different perfume samples and it gives me a chance to see how they smell on me over time.
I also recieved a few makeup presents as well! I have always wanted to try Nars shadows but they seemed overpriced to me. They are $40 CAD for a duo! I just had a hard time spending that for 2 shadows. Luckily for me someone else didn't! I got the Nars duo in 'Mediteranee', described on Sephoras website as muted gold shimmer/burnt orange shimmer'. I had said that I want to start to wear abit more color and someone was listening! I love these colors and they are just enough out of my neutral comfort zone tht I can still wear them without feeling self concious! I had also been looking at the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for quite awhile, not sure why I never picked it up. I will let you know how I like it after using it for abit.
My daughter had mentioned that she was needing a new tube of Blinc mascara (her Favorite), so of course I had to go back to Sephora! I ended up making her a deal where she would pay half for the 'Lash Stash' to go from Sephora and I would get the sample sizes (again, who doesn't need/want more!) to try and she gets the coupon for a full size of her Blinc. So I plan on trying these out over the course of the next few months and who knows, I may find a favorite mascara in the bunch! I already know I like the Too Faced, although it smudges on me when I wear my glasses and I like the Tarte Light, Camera, Lashes but have not tried the lights, camera, Flashes before.
And lastly what Birthday haul would be complete without a stop at the Mac counter. I have been on the hunt for a peach/pink/nudish lipstick for summer. One of my favorite SA at my Mac counter was there and she recommended Flamingo. Flamingo is a Lustre finish and described my Mac as 'light milky bright coral', pretty much just what I asked for! I really like this color as it is not to bright, you can build it up, but it is just the right amount of color for me!
So that was my birthday haul this year! I can't wait to try out these products and get back to you on how I ended up liking them! I really hope the Nars duo lives up to the hype! Is there anything here that you would like a review on first?
