Last week when I was looking for a polish to wear, I realized that my polish holders had gotten a little over filled to say the least. With Imats fast approaching, I figured now was as good a time as any to filter out what I like and what I don't like. I also just recently heard about a new app called 'Snupps' and think its a great idea for a make up hoarder! If you want to follow me I go by Sandies_Stash. I am hoping to go through my stash and pass along what I don't use to someone who may want it before I put everything into the app. Hopefully all before Imats! I hope you are prepared for this VERY picture heavy post!
This is what I started with :
What a mess! I started out with 129 polishes, treatments, base and top coats. A tad more than I need! I have realized that I really don't like OPI mini polishes, the brush is to thin and I find that a lot of the polishes seem to run thinner than their full size.
As I was going through my polishes I tried to have somewhat of an order, at least it seemed like an order to me at the time! I was going to type out the names of everything but I think that would end up making this post a lot longer than most would enjoy reading! So I will try to keep the chatter down and make it a pic heavy post!
Lets start with Top, Base, and Treatment-y types.
Out of this batch I only decided to get rid of the 2 mini OPI Top Coats. For one I am not a fan of the brush and two I have a full size. My favourites out of this group are the Formula X base coat and the Seche Vite Top coat. I haven't tried the H K Girl top coat yet though, I have heard great things about this one.
Out of the 'Green' section I only got rid of the OPI mini green (most of the OPI minis I don't know the names because they don't have them anywhere on the bottle, they do have a number on the bottom that if you can see/read it you can get the name). I haven't even used some of these ones so I would like to try them out before deciding on them. My favourite in this bunch is the Beyond The Nail in 'Mojito".
The 'Blue' section is pretty small and I am getting rid of the 2 OPI minis. The only 1 out of this collection that I haven't tried is the Sally Hansen 'Pacific Blue'. Out of the 4 that I am holding on to, I can't really decide on a favourite here out of the 3 that I have used.
This is the smallest collection of colors that I have, and I am giving away 2 of them. Again the 2 OPI minis. So I guess that leaves the Revlon to be my favourite!
Out of the Greys I didn't actually purge any. I will probably purge the OPI mini when I find a dark grey I like better. Farourite here is actually the full size OPI-Cement The Deal from the 50 Shades Of Grey collection/2014.
The silvers I am only getting rid of the Nailtini. The other 3 are all different enough and I like them. Favourite here is China Glaze Awaken (third from the left), it just has a little something extra to it.
This is another small collection and once again I only kept one, China Glaze - Snow. Snow has the best formula of the 3.
I actually thought I had more Orange polish than this. I only kept 2 from here, deborah lippmann and the Essie. Favourite of the 2? Essie.
This is where I will start to run into trouble figuring out what to call them! From this selection i only got rid of the Formula X green-y one. I have not even tried out the joe polish but I like the color and have nothing even close to it. Favourite? I like all the ones I decided to keep!
And here I thought I didn't have any reds! From this collection I am actually keeping them all. I am on the hunt for a true red to replace the OPI mini (Coca Cola Red). This is another collection that I haven't tried very many from...So favourite? Sephora by OPI 'Ruby Without A Cause'.
Out of these 4 I am keeping only one. Surprise! Its the Morgan Taylor 'No Way Rose', so I guess you can say that one is my favourite!
I swear the Nails Inc and Essie look more taupy/brown in person! From this selection I only got rid on 1, the NYC. There is nothing wrong with the formula it is just to close to Nicka K, which I like better. Favourite here would have to be the Morgan Taylor (Latte Please) and Essie (Chinchilly).
I have a few to many purple polishes to fit in one frame so I split them up. This is another collection that I kept them all. And that Venique on the end looked purple in the bottle! Favourite here is Lancôme 387.
From the Lights/Extras I purged 3! The Sally Hansen, nothing wrong with it the Essie right beside is the same colour though!. Also the 2 OPI minis. Favourite here is Nicòle by OPI 'Am I making Myself Clairenet?'.
This collection I only kept the 3 on the right. I like the colors of the OPI minis but the formula on these ones are really thin. My favourite here is the Formula X in 'Invincible'.
I only gave up 3 of these, I like shiney! I will be looking for a good gold that isn't chunky, the Cuccio one is so chunky, it leaves a raised texture on your nails that seems to catch on everything. I can't pick a favourite here, I like each one for different looks. You can quickly dress up a bland or just starting to chip mani by simply putting some glitter on top.
I was happy with the amount I gave away from this pile. I only kept 7 of them! I did pass on 3 full sizes. My favourite here is the Morgan Taylor 'Amour Color Please' and NYC 'Lincoln Square Lavender'.
This is another collection where I was able to purge quite a few. I kept 7 again, can you tell I like pink?! My favourite here is easy, Formula X 'Alive'.
Now for the ones I decided not to keep. A grand total of 36 polishes, 15 full size and 21 minis, that will be finding a new home!
So i whittled it down to a total of 73 full size and 20 minis, for a grand total of 93 polishes/treatments! Still way more than I will probably ever need. But I do feel good about purging all the OPI minis and the other full size polishes that I really did not like/need/use. If you couldn't tell, I really like Morgan Taylor polish! A runner up to that would have to be China Glaze going by sheer volume of polishes that I have/like.
Do you have a nail polish or anything really that has gotten a little out of hand? What do you think of using an app like 'Snupps' to help you keep track of what you have? Let me know in the comments!
