Origins 'Just The Essentials', Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel and the Clarisonic Delicate Brush head, Review.

I thought it was about time that I checked back in about the skincare products I had picked up for my birthday haul back in June.  I have been using most of these products fairly regularly since I hauled them and feel like I can give you my opinion on them after using some of them for quite awhile now.

Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel, Originis 'Just The Essentials' kit and Clarisonic Delicate replacement heads.

Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel, Originis 'Just The Essentials' kit and Clarisonic Delicate replacement heads.

I'll start with the Origins 'Just The Essential' kit that I was really looking forward to giving a try.  I have checked on the Sephora website and it is not showing up on there but I did see it last week in store.

I have been using the Origins Modern Friction before I use a mask for the past month and a half and I love it!  It doesn't have much of a scent and the finest granuales that are gentle on your skin yet it seems to make your face feel so clean without irritating it.  I think I may have found my new exfoliater!  It is $49CAD at Sephora for 4.2 oz and that size will last you forever, you need only the smallest amount of product.  I will warn you to make sure you don't get any in your eyes though, I made the mistake of opening my eyes mid rinse and it did not feel good at all!

Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask - I use this mostly on my nose and cheeks as that is where my pores are the biggest.  I like this mask almost as much as the one that I make.  If I hadn't already started making my DIY mask I would definitely pick this one up.  It is $30 CAD for 3.4 oz which I think is a fair price for it.  I will say that the Origins mask comes out ahead of the DIY is in how easy it is to take off.  My DIY mask is a little harder to get off.

Origins GinZing Moisturizer - I have been using this moisturiser all month and I do like the scent of it.  It has a somewhat citrusy scent that is very refreshing in the morning.  It is also oil free so it plays well under foundation for me.  it is $34 for 1.7 oz on Sephora, which is a decent enough price.  I would be more tempted to buy a full size of this if it came in anything but a pot that you have to stick your fingers in.  I hate puting my fingers in pots to get product out and it is a deal breaker for me.  Sadly I won't be picking up a full size but I will continue to use up the small size I have.  Is it just me or does anyone else have an aversion to sticking your fingers in products?!

Origins Cheeks and Balances Frothy Face Wash - This was the product that I thought I liked out of the whole kit.  I don't know if the sample Sephora had given me was mislabeled or what but I do not like this face wash at all.  I like the scent but that is all.  I found this to be exceptionally drying on my face.  It felt good while I was washing my face but when I started rinsing I found that my hands would almost get stuck to my face!  My face also felt so tight afterward, I would have to quickly get some moituriser on my face as soon as I got out of the shower.  Needless to say I won't be picking up a full size of this one.  It is a fairly good priced cleanser at $26.50 CAD for 5oz of product if you find it works for you and doesn't dry your face.

Out of the 4 products in the Just Essentials kit I at least found an exfoliator, Modern Friction, that I like that doesn't have the micro beads.  I would be interested in the GinZing moisturiser as well if they package it differently.  The Charcoal mask is something I wouldn't say no to if it was in another kit as well.  Sadly the one thing I thought was the best part of the kit, Checks and Balances, is the one thing that I won't be using up and will pass on to see if anyone else likes it.

Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel was something that I had heard quite a bit about on various YouTube channels as well as blogs.  I was happy when I was able to find it in a local Health store in the mall.  I use this every morning and night after I wash my face, it doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry at all. I have found that my skin seems to be softer and that I do not need to use as much moisturiser since I started using this as a toner.  I am not the biggest fan of the scent so I think I may try out one of the other variety's when this one is done.  Maybe the Lavender or Cucumber one.

And lastly the Clarisonic Delicate brush head.  I like the way this feels on my skin more so than the Sensitive head, it feels quite a bit softer.  I was not sure if it was doing as good a job as the Sensitive head as when I wipe my face with my cotton with toner on it I would get some makeup residue on the pad.  I have started using a Cleansing butter and I don't have that problem any more though.  I am looking forward to the end of September when it is time to change my brush head and I can finally try out the Radiance head that I picked up as a Sephora 500 point perk a few weeks after picking up these heads.

I am glad that I picked up these products to try out and I have now found a few new favourites that are a part of my daily routine, be it day/night or when I use a mask.  Have you found anything new lately that you are loving that was a part of a 'kit'?  I know I will be picking up a few of the holiday sets when they start coming out as I love trying out new/favourite products all packaged up in a convenient kit that lets me try out other things from a brand without buying a full size.
