I was lucky enough to recieve 2 Demeter Foolproof Blending sets from Demeter, thanks to the CBB (Canadian Beauty Bloggers). I have reviewed the Demeter - Mr Bubbles scent before and was excited to be able to try out some more products from Demeter. This time I was sent a Foolproof Bending Duo and a Base Note Trio in Vanilla.
The Foolproof Blending Base Note Trio in Vanilla contained 3 cologne sprays along with a few blending strips. In the Vanilla Trio the fragrances included are Hawaiin Vanilla, Angel Food, and Gingerbread. Hawaiin Vanilla smelles like a beautiful vanilla flower. Angel Food smells like you just took a vanilla cake out of the oven with a hint of coconut, yum! Gingerbread smells like you just baked up a batch or two of gingerbread cookies, to me this was the strongest of the scents I recieved. I know that whenever I am feeling like I need a pick me up I will just give Gingerbread a spray around the room, it will be great next holiday season!
The Demeter Fragrance Trios ($45.00 USD) come also in 9 different sets - 20th Anniversary, Chocolate, Smoke/Incense, Water, Heavy Floral, Wood, Clean, Light Floral, and of course Vanilla. If none of these 9 Trios appeal to you you can also make up your own Trio (also $45.00 USD)by chosing a catergory (Classic Catalogue or Winter Nights) and picking 3 scents from that category, you can customize your fragrance even further! And if that wasn't enough choice, Demeter will also be coming out with a new Limited Edition Trio each month. The 9 Trios also come with Blending strips so you can play around to find a combination you like best. You can also pick up a Foolproof Blending Tool Kit ($6.00 USD), which contains a funnel, 6 droppers, 1 refillable bottle as well as some blending strips.
The Foolproof Blending Duo contains 2 cologne sprays, 1 Fragrance Funnel, 4 droppers and 1 1oz Refillable Bottle with Pump, Cap and Do It Yourself Label. I recieved Clean Skin and Sunshine. Clean Skin smells fresh, kind of like getting out of the shower! While Sunshine smells like a warm summer day. The instructions tell you to use the empty spray bottle along with the funnel and droppers to design your own personal fragrance.
The Demeter Fragrance Duos ($35.00 USD) come in 9 different sets - Christmas Tree/Sweet Orange, Mulled Cider/Egg Nog, Apple Pie/Vanilla Cake Batter, Pumpkin Pie/Sandlewood, Blackberry Pie/Green Tea, Chai Tea/To Yo Ran, Jasmine/Lavender, Clean Skin/Sunshine, Patchouli/Baby Powder. All 9 Duos come with Droppers, Funnel, and empty mixing bottle so you can combine them in almost any proportion to make your own unique scent!
Demeter has a handy guide to give you some tips on how to blend your fragrance, in case you are like me and have never tried doing this before! The Blending Pyramid gives you a sample of ways in which to start your Blending! It says there are NO rules when it comes to Blending but the pyramid helps newbies like me figure out how to start blending a fragrance.
Time for the fun part, making a unique fragrance that smells good on me! I had my sister come over to play around with the scents and to see how the different scents smelled on different people. We found out very quickly that the one she thought she would like the best, Clean Skin, smelled horrible on her! But it smelled great on me. We played around a bit with the scent strips writing down our mixtures and spraying them on the Blending Strips and than started in on testing them out on our skin. It started getting a little bit fragrant in the office! The combination we tried and liked the best were - 1 Gingerbread & 3 Sunshine, Sunshine & Hawaiin Vanilla, Skin & Hawaiian Vanilla, Sunshine & Angel Food, Angel Food & Skin, and Clean Skin & Sunshine. We found out fairly quickly that GIngerbread was the strongest smelling of them all and really needed to mixed more than 1:1! My favorite combination ended up being Sunshine & Hawaiin Vanilla, there is just something about it that I really like and think that it smells good on me. We decided that my fragrance should be called Hawaiin Sunshine. My sisters favorite combinatioin was Angel Food & Sunshine . I might have to mix her up a batch as well.
My sister and I had a great time playing around with the fragrances and making up our scents! I could see this being a fun thing to do with family or friends, maybe even for a girls party. Have you ever played around with making your own unique scent? What combinations have you come up with? I may have to order another set when I start to get low on the ones I have so that I can make up some more unique to me scents.
I hope you enjoy taking a look at what the other CBBers thought of their Demeter Blending Sets and finding their unique scents.
