I am going to start this review off with saying that my sister had picked up the Mac Matchmaster Shade Intelligence Compagt as she was out of her regular foundation and wanted to try it out. She went to the Mac counter and got shade matched and while we were there the SA had said that I could probably wear it to. Being the nice sister that she is she let me give it a try after she had tried it out.
The compact is the classic black, minimilistic packaging. It also comes with a sponge with a sponge applicator, not many Mac products come with an applicator! You do only get 0.45 oz for $44.00 CAD which included the compact, and the refills are $32.00 CAD. A regular Mac foundation is between $32.00 and $44.00 for 1-1.7 oz, so it is quite a bit more per ounce to buy.
I used both the applicator as well as a flat top kabuki brush on different days to see how it would apply. I found the sponge gave a more medium coverage, it seemed to pick up more foundation. I was able to more easily sheer it out using a brush. The brush also didn't seem to soak up as much foundation as the sponge applicator.
The shade 1.5 did seem to match me fairly well, it seemed a little dark at first but by the time I was done the rest of my makeup it had seemed to 'shade correct'? It wore well for 7 hours and only than started to fade around my nose. It had sheer-medium coverage and I couldn't feel it on at all, it was like I wasn't wearing anything. I was quite tempted to purchase this one myslef once I finish at least one ofthe ones I have on the go! But, and here is the bad part about this foundation, the compact only lasted a month before it seemed empty! So, she basically got 25 or so uses out of the compact. To me that is just not funny, for the price you would expect it to last at least a few months before running out.
If you are looking for a portable liquid foundation, than the Matchmaster Shade INtelligence Compact would be a good purchase. But if you are expecting it to last you for very long, don't pick it up in this format! If the price was a little lower I might be tempted to purchase it, but not at this price for the amount of uses you get out of it. I did reallly like the foundation though, I may try the Matchmaster in the bottle format, once of course, I finish up one of mine!
Have you tried out a cushion compact? Did it run out fairly quickly as well?
