I picked up the NYX - Highlight & Contour Palette at IMATS-Toronto back in September and promptly forgot about it, again! I found it while starting to organize my new office (post coming soon, I promise!) and started using it. I had seen quite a few reviews about it and had wanted to try it out. Back in September NYX was very hard to find locally, so I was quite happy when I saw them at IMATS. Now of course Shopper's Drug Mart has started carrying NYX so it is a lot easier to find! I have been using the NYX-Highlight & Contour Palette for over a month now and I have really been enjoying it. I have used it for it's intended purpose, Highlight and contour, but I have also used it as eyeshadow. It does both jobs wonderfully! You can get a really natural eye look using the NYX-Highlight & Contour as well as Face contouring.
In the NYX-Highlight & Contour Palette -
I can find no where on the packaging the names of the shades but the NYX Canada website lists them as Ice Queen, Soft Light, Cream, Nectar, Tan, Toffee, Sculpt and Hollow.
Swatches and descriptions of the HIghlight shades -
Ice Queen - Pearly pale white - has fine shimmer, fairly pale.
Soft LIght - Matte nude - pale whitish matte
Cream - Matte soft yellow - strong yellow undertones
Nectar - Pearly soft peach - I see no peach in this one! - slightly shimmery with to me more yellow
I have been using Soft Light and Cream to set my undereye concealer and to give a slight bit of highlight there as well, no major creasing!
Swatches and descriptions of the contour shades -
Tan - Matte soft brown with red undertones - warm with a slight sheen
Toffee - Matte neutral brown - I find this one to be slightly warm as well
Sculpt - Matte taupe - I like mixing this and Tan for a cheek contour
Hollow - Matte deep brown - a little to dark in the winter for me to use as a contour
I find myself mixing Sculpt with a bit of Tan for a contour shade and it seems to work for me.
I use more of the palette when I am using it as eyeshadow, Ice Queen is great on the inner corner of the eye. Sculpt is great for blending in the crease with a touch of Hollow to darken up the outer portion!
I have really been enjoying using the NYX Highlight and Contour Pro Palette for its intending purpose but also as eye shadow. It does both great and lasts about 8 hours before it starts to fade. Not to bad especially considering the price, Shopper's Drug Mart has it for $29.99 CAD.
