YAY! It's not December and I am here to give you a look inside my November 'Sweater Weather' Boxy Charm box! Maybe I am finally going to be caught up! If you want to see what I received in my November Boxy Charm, as well as read my thoughts on the October 'Spellbound' box, please keep reading!
In the November 'Sweater Weather' Boxy Charm box, I again received a great mix of products and brands. Skincare, makeup, and tools. More lesser known brands this month, KNC Beauty, LAQA, and Winky Lux. But I also got Cover FX and Luxie! I have received Luxie brushes before and have been happy with the quality of the brushes I have tried from them. Unfortunately I think Boxy Charm has done away with the #BoxyTips though, none on this months cards either :(.
Luxie Beauty - Quad Eye Travel Set -Take your eye game on the go with this quad travel set created with hand-crafted synthetic brushes. Retail $32.00 USD
I love getting brushes in my Boxy Charm! Who couldn't use some new brushes? I think a travel set of brushes was a great addition to the November box, a lot of people travel in December and having a set of eye travel brushes will come in handy.
Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray - A quick-drying setting spray that sets makeup for all day wear and imparts instant, all-over illumination. It's alcohol free, so it's not drying to the skin. Perfect for all skin tones and types. Retail $31.00 USD.
I received a sample of this from Sephora a few months ago and liked it so I will definitely give the full size a go and see if I still like it.
Winky Lux Kitten Palette - These ultra-soft shadows glide on like a dream. The universally flattering collection of shades makes this palette as lovable as a kitten. It features highly-pigmented shadows in four finishes: holographic, matte, satin, and glitter. Retail $25.00 USD.
I love getting palettes to try out! The shades in this palette look like you will be able to get quite a few different looks out of it, not to mention it has a great mix of finishes. And the packaging is so cute, my granddaughter loves it!
Swatches of the Winky Lux Kitten Palette -
Purr-an ice-y pink satin, great lid shade
Duchess- a matte cream, great brow bone shade
Strut- matte tan shade, great for a transition shade
Holographic-the holographic shade in the palette, pink with an opal shift. Lid shade and/or maybe highlighter?!
9 Lives- in the pan this looked like it had glitter but that didn't translate well in the swatch. A kind of purple-ly blue?
Cateye- a bold gold shade, this one is very pigmented and feels so soft.
Romeo- beautiful warm Burgundy shade, another satin. I think this would be great with Cheshire if that one works out better on the eye than it did in the swatch.
Cheshire- a matte Burgundy shade that did not swatch well at all. Here's hoping this works better with brushes!
Boots- matte brown, swatched a bit better than Cheshire. Hopefully this works better on the eye as well.
I swatched these all on bare skin with one swipe of my finger, hoping some of the shades that didn't swatch well work better with a brush!
LAQ A & Co. Cloud Lips in Sunshower - An airy matte lipstick that provides full coverage, but feels as light as a cloud. This highly-pigmented lipstick has a matte finish for long-lasting fluffy, pouty lips that stay put. Retail $17.00 USD.
I was hoping for a more everyday wearable shade. Sunshower is definitely not for the faint of heart. It is a bold true red, that would be perfect for a night out.
KNC Beauty Collagen Lip Masks - Innovative jelly mask for your lips that hydrate, moisturize and plump your pout with natural ingredients. Retail $15.00 USD.
I have not used a lip mask like this before, I usually only use balms. It should be fun to try though, I am sure I will get some funny looks from my family if they catch a glimpse of me wearing these.
The total retail value of the November 'Sweater Weather' Box was $120.00 USD, not bad for my $35.00ish CAD! My Boxy Charm boxes have always had a more than $100.00 USD retail value. For me, I am willing to pay that for a surprise every month, my little surprise box. And as usual there are a few things I am pretty happy about and a few I'm somewhat iffy about. But for me that is the fun of a subscription box, it gets you to try things that you may not have tried on your own.
And now for my thoughts on the October 2017- Spellbound Boxy Charm-
Dr Brandt Poredermabrasion - I have used the Dr Brandt Poredermabrasion a couple of times over the past month, and I like it. It has a bit more of grit to it than I was expecting, not painful, but more than I am used to. It does make my skin very soft after using, but I am not sure if the amount of grit in it would be the best for someone with sensitive skin.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Prosecco Pop - I have quite a few of the Becca highlighters and while I do like them, they are definitely not for the fieint of heart! If you want to see your highlighter, give Becca a try! They are some of the softest and easiest to blend highlighters I have tried. Prosecco Pop is a fairly gold toned highlight that I think would look beautiful on those with a medium to dark skin tone. Not so much on my pale skin! I do love using it on my eyes though! It's a perfect lid shade for making my eyes pop.
Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Homeslice - I have a few shades of the Tarte Tartiest Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint and do like using them. They are slightly drying so you want to make sure that you exfoliate and moisturize your lips before putting them on. Once they are on, they stay on! I wasn't sure about the shade of Homeslice, described as a peachy-nude, but I love it! I find it to have just the right amount of peach that I am not self conscious about wearing it.
ncLA Nailed It Tool Kit - Not the most exciting product in Octobers box, but I think the most useful! This little nail kit now resides in my purse for those times when something happens to a nail, or you know you need a pair of mini scissors to get into a package that you just can't wait to get home to open! I have tried everything in the kit except the nail file, I have a mini Sephora glass nail file that I love! All the tools seem to made of good quality and do there job well.
Jonteblu Lip Liner Pencil in Brown Sugar - I was surprised at this lip liner, it is fairly creamy, but not to creamy. It isn't to dry that it tugs at my lips, nor is it to creamy that it goes all over the place. The darker nude shade of this works great with lip shades that are a tad to light, it darkens the shade enough that it is more wearable.
So for me, was the October 'Spellbound' box worth it? I think so, I got to try 5 different I probably wouldn't have picked up on my own, and found a few good ones! The Nail Kit is a permanent residence in my purse, the lip liner has made a few shades of lipstick more wearable, and I have found that I can wear more peachy shades of lipstick! The Becca may be more wearable for me in the summer, even if its not I have an eyeshadow that will last me forever! The Dr Brandt is a product I will use, although I doubt more than at most once a week.
