Fell behind a bit again getting my December Boxy Charm up. But there is a giveaway attached to this one! If you want to see what I received in my December 'Glitz & Glam' Boxy Charm, as well as have a chance at a new Highlighter, keep reading.
The theme for the December 2017 Boxy Charm is 'Glitz & Glam'. Quite fitting with all the end of the year holiday gatherings! I received quite a few products that definitely fit the theme of this months box. There is a lot of 'Glitz' in the products I received in my December box.
December 2017 'Glitz & Glam' Boxy Charm again gave a good mixture of brands and products. 2 well known to me brands, Tarte and Makeup Geek, as well as a few lesser known Vintage, Realher, and Beauty Basics. I received a Blush palette, Bronze palette, Liquid lip, Mascara as well as a highlighter.
Real Her - Blush Kit - Treat your cheeks to an instant natural glow with 3 shimmery tones. Retail $32.00 USD.
A nice mix of shades in this blush palette, a pinky shimmer shade (Fearless), a more matte pink-coral shade (Limitless), and a slight shimmer neutral shade (Unstoppable). I think that Limitless will be great for the warmer months, and I see myself reaching for Unstoppable the most. I will try them all out though and let you know which ends up being my favourite!
Beauty Basics - Bronze Essentials - Use individually or mix together for your ultimate Bronze and Glow. Retail $39.95 USD.
The separate matte shades in this palette look really nice, all blended together, not so much for me. I think this would be a great highlighter on deeper skin tones though! I am not to sure who would be able to use this bronzer palette as a bronzer though, it is fairly glittery to me when all mixed together. I can see you e=being able to somewhat easily only use the 2 end shades if you are careful with your brush as bronzer, otherwise, maybe as eyeshadow? I think I will be trading this with a girl from work, she was hoping to get it and didn't.
Makeup Geek - Makeup Geek Showstopper Creme Stain - Makeup Geek Showstopper Creme Stain will ensure you're the centre of attention! Use the precision applicator for a light feel on the lips throughout the day! Retail $12.00 USD.
Finally, an everyday shade for me! I haven't tried out much from Makeup Geek, not that I don't want to , I just tend to forget about them. I haven't heard much about the Creme Stains, so I am looking forward to trying this one out. The price on Makeup Gee products are fairly fair from what I have seen, I just wish it was more easily accessible to Canadians! I don't mind shopping online, in fact I love it!, but I do like having some knowledge of the products before buying.
Tarte - Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara - A jet-black, vegan mascara that has a molded brush that grabs and coats even the tiniest lashes for 2700% more volume. Retail $23.00 USD.
A mascara that I haven't tried out before! I do have some samples of this one so I may give them a go before trying out the full size. I probably won't get to trying this out before I get my January box though so I will let you know at a later date how I like this.
Vintage Cosmetics - Illuminating Face Highlighter - Add a beautiful wash of color and subtle, sexy shimmer with the Illuminating Face Highlighter. Created to be worn alone or as a beautiful highlight over pretty blush - the reflective pearls add radiance on contact, adding a delicate glow and diamond-like finish to the skin. Retail $32.00 USD.
I knew before I received my box that I was getting this highlighter, Boxy Charm had sent me out an email apologizing for sending out an item I have already received. In the email they said that I would be getting an extra item in my January box to make up for it. I like the Vintage highlighters, I have received this one plus a duo before from Boxy Charm. They last throughout the day, I do find them to be a bit to much for myself, but they do make gorgeous eye shadows!
The December 2017 'Glitz & Glam' Boxy Charm has a total retail value of $138.95 USD, as I have said before, Boxy Charm is well worth the $35.00ish CAD I pay for it. Boxy charm has never had a retail value of under $100.00 USD for me, which is a great on the investment. I always get some new to me products as well as brands that I may not have heard of otherwise. There are always going to be dudes in a box, but half the fun is the surprise each month. And you never know when you will find something great.
And finally, my thoughts on the November 2017 - Sweater Weather box -
Luxie Beauty Quad Eye Travel Set- As I said in before, I love getting brushes! I liked these brushes well enough, all though I found that there wasn't a nice soft crease blending brush in the set. All of the brushes in this travel set had more of a firmer feel to them. I liked using the later brush to put shadow on my lid and the flat, square one to smudge out shadow on my lash line. The other 2 brushes, for me, were a little to firm to blend out shadow in my crease.
Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray- I love the mister on the Cover Fx Setting spray! It is the finest mist I have seen yet. I found that less is more with this spray though! The first time I used it it was great, the second time I sprayed it a few to many times and ended up a little more glow than I would have liked! You do have to really shake this up before you use it though, there is a mixer ball in there that you can hear mixing it!
Winkylux Kitten Palette- I liked the palette well enough, it isn't my favourite though. The shades all tend to run darker than I use on a regular day to day basis. I would have liked it better if there had been a shade between Strut and Boots for a more subtle crease shade. The shades were all pigmented and blendable though, and did last throughout the day with minimal creasing and fading.
Laq & Co Cloud Lips- The texture on this lipstick was so smooth and comfortable! I wish I had received a more wearable shade for me so I could have given it more of a try. Sunshower is just to bold for my liking. I did wear it around the house, it didn't last the best through eating and it was definitely not transfer-proof. It was very comfortable to wear, not drying at all.
KNC Beauty Collagen Lip Masks- These were a big fail for me. First off, they are huge! And because of the slippery texture of them, they kept sliding off my lips! They did feel very cooling on my lips though. I didn't notice much of a difference in my lips though. They felt just like I had put on a balm, and it wasn't that long lasting. They were fun to try, my husband had a good laugh seeing me wearing them.
For me the November 2017 'Sweater Weather' Boxy Charm ended up being just ok. But I am fine with that! I had fun trying out all the goodies that came, and it gives me a chance to maybe step out of my comfort zone! I liked 2 of the brushes, the palette is ok (as long as I have a separate crease shade!), and the Cover Fx setting spray is great. The Lip Masks were great for a laugh around here, and the Laq & Co lip was fun to try out.
If you made it this far, YAY! Since I already received the Vintage Illuminating Face Highlighter, I thought I would run a giveaway for it! You can enter using the Gleam widget below.
