I have seen this blog post idea floating around for a bit this year and was thinking it would be a great way to give you a peek at what 'should' be coming up soon here! It's also a great way for me to keep track of new in stuff, especially now when I am going to be trying to get more reviews out of newer things as well as some of the other things I have picked up over the past year of my somewhat absenteeism from here!
The month of November is a big shopping month around here. Canada has really gotten into Black Friday and you can find some great deals right here at home. Not to mention Cyper Monday, which I don't usually pay much attention to but you can find some good deals there online. Sephora usually has the VIB %20 off sale thrown in there to. Shoppers Drug also, at least for the past 2 years, has some type of bonus redemption weekend.
Without further ado, here is what I picked up last month!
Was it just me, or did the Sephora sets just not seem that good this year? I of course, picked up my yearly stock of Philosophy Purity face wash, 3-12 oz bottles, they were $15 a bottle. I think that may be enough for the year! I had gotten the it Cosmetics bye bye Undereye before but mistakenly picked it up in light...way to light for me! So when I saw this set in medium for $20 with the new bye bye Undereye eye cream, I thought why not give it a try. The Tarte sets are always a good deal for me, the blushes are beginning to be a 'Gotta Catch them all'! I love tarte's blush formula and had been wanting to try out the new lipstick formula, so for $15 I grabbed it to. For a grand total at Sephora of $85 plus tax. I would have easily spent that on the Purity alone if I hadn't gotten it on sale.
On to MAC! MAC's Black Friday sale was 30% off almost everything, I think the only not included was the new Snowball collection? Also 6 free samples with every order. When I saw the MAC x Robert Lee Morris collection, I was pretty sure I was going to pick up the Prolongwear Powder in Light Plus, I have used it in the past and really liked it. The packaging on this collection is beautiful! It looks like metal, but unfortunately its not, it is plastic, but it does look beautiful! Almost every order I have made on MAC I have gotten a sample of the Prep + Prime Skin Base, I knew I was going to end up picking it up at some point, so why not for 30% off? The samples I picked out were-Creme D'Nude and Velvet Teddy perfume, Cleanse Off Oil, and because you know I needed more mascara samples...In Extreme Dimension Lash, In Extreme Dimension 3D Lash, and False Lashes! The grand total at MAC was just over $77 taxes in, But I used my cash back from rebates so it only cost me $12! That was a steal!
On Saturday, November 25, Shoppers was having a Bonus Redemption weekend instore and online, so of course off my sister and I went! I was originally going to pick up the Dior Forever foundation, but my sister and I both, for some strong reason, are the same shade and they only had 1 left. So being a nice sister, and since my sister has a really hard time finding a foundation she likes, she got the last one. I asked the associate for another recomeendation and she recommended the Guerlain. I picked up the shade the 02-Beige Clair. I am running low on the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer, so picked up 1 of those. I had seen the Dior-Plump 'N' Volume Mascara and was mildly interested in it, this set came with a mini eye shadow palette in 647-Undress, my favourite kind of shades-neutral! Decided to try out Guerlain-Intensive Liquid Matte in M06, again a nude shade! I did place an on line order through Beuty Boutique as well, I was kind of hoping they had the Dior unstuck (they didn't), but it didn't come in until the first of week December, their shipping took forever compared to Sephora. I'll give you a look at that order next month!
Of course my sister and I stopped in at Bath & Body works on the Saturday of Black Friday weekend as well. The sale for that day was 10 Hand Soaps or 10 Wallflowers, or any combination of the 2, for $35 CAD I think? Plus I had a $10 off a purchase of $30. So I managed to pick up enough hand soaps to last me until the next sale, I think, as well as a couple for gifts. for under $30.oo CAD, that is when I buy the hand soaps, I paid just over $2 a bottle. I decided to try a couple different formulas this time as well, hopefully we like them.
My somewhat restrained, VIB sale haul. My sister and I had decided that we would split on the cost of the DermaFlash, as we were both interested in trying it out. You use a new blade each time, so to me it is sanitary to share the cost of the device, which before the sale was $236 CAD. We split the cost of it, $213 with tax. Now we can both try it out without spending a small fortune. I picked up a refill on my Sephora brush cleaner, I use it to clean my brushes and blenders, I find it works great at a cheaper price than the Beauty Blender branded one. I wanted to try out Violet Voss eyeshadows and the shades in Taupe Notch are great for everyday work appropriate looks! Also was interested in Huda shadows but didn't want to spend $85 CAD for a big palette and the size of the Obsessions palette looked great, I of course picked up the Warm Brown! My sister picked up the Mauve one so when I post about this one, I'll include swatches of the Mauve one as well. I love the bite Agave Lip Mask in winter and this little set let me also try out the scrub and balm, all in a cute little black tin. I saw that the dr Brandt Pores No More primer was in a gift set with the bag, mini Microdermabrasion, and sample of Luminizing primer for $38 CAD! I have tried the primer before and liked it, so I figured I would pick up this set. The full size, which is included in the set is $55 CAD...kind of a no brainer for me! I had been matched to the Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Foundation previously and liked it so when I saw they had my shade, on sale for $39 minus the 20% made it $31.20 CAD plus tax, almost as good as a deal as I got on the matching Marc Jacobs powder in Cleveland!
I was lucky enough to be sent a few products to try out in November as well! From Farlyco, a few new to me, products as well as a couple of the 7th Heaven masks, which I love! Nail Polish Canada also reached out to me to see if I would be interested in trying out the Vitry Nail Repair Care, My nails seem to be getting dry and somewhat brittle this year so I said I would love to try it out, I'll try anything to have my nails stop peeling!
Whoops, I didn't think I had picked up that much last month! I think I did manage to get a good variety of new as well as favourites, so hopefully there will be more than enough for me to let you know my thought son things that I picked up. Although, in my own defence, I did get most everything on sale or in the case of the SDM redemption, almost free! Is there anything here that interests you at all? Anything that you use and love? Le tm know what you would be most interested in seeing my thoughts on.
