Once again, so late posting my January Boxy Charm! But as of writing this post I still haven't received my February box, so thats a good thing! I did receive an email saying that there has been a change in Canadian customs and that my box would be delayed. Boxy seems to be right on top of letting me know whenever there is something going on with my box!

The theme for the January 2018 Boxy Charm was 'Rock 2018', and I think the products reflected the theme. Some of the products definitely fit the theme, especially the eyeshadow palette.
The January 'Rock 2018' Boxy Charm contained products from Dr Brandt ( Primer), It Cosmetics (Brow Pencil), Crown Pro (Eye Shadow palette), PUR (Bronze and Cheek palette) and Girlactik (Lip). Another well rounded box, heavy on the makeup, which I enjoy!
Dr Brandt - Pores No More Luminizer Primer - LUMINIZER PRIMER delivers a natural radiant glow while blurring pored and imperfections for a beautifully illuminated flawless complexion. Retail of $38.00 USD.
I have tried the regular Pores No More Primer from Dr Brandt and like it so I am looking forward to trying out the Luminizing one.
It Cosmetics - Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil - Developed with plastic surgeons, IT Cosmetics' #1 best-selling, award-winning eyebrow pencil is infused with brow-enhancing biotin, lecithin, saw palmetto, nettle, green tea, antioxidants grape seed, and vitamins A, B5, C and E, plus proprietary Brow Power Technology to give you your most beautiful, natural-looking brows-even if you have none at all. Plus, its universal transforming shade adjusts to all hair colors based on pressure, its exculsive oval tip mimics the look of real hair and it includes a built-in grooming spooled brush for polished perfection. Retail $24.00 USD.
Wow, that's a long description! I am lucky that I have light brown hair so the 'universal shades' usually work for me. When I swatched the pencil I used variaing degrees of pressure. I am not sure that I would be wanting to press that hard on my brows to get the darker tone!
Crown Pro - Glam Metals Palette - Rock your look with the Crown Pro Glam Metals eyeshadow palette! These highly pigmented, ultra bendable shadows make smokey eye looks a breeze! Retail of $25.00 USD.
The Glam Metals palette is heavy on the shimmers! The metallic shades are very pigmented, the more matte shades not so much. I am not big into doing a smokey eye but hoping to be able to get a more day appropriate eye look out of the palette.
PUR The Complexion Authority - Bronze and Brighten Cheek Palette - An on-the-go highlight, bronzer, and blush palette with three skin perfecting powders to create an effortless and sun-kissed glow on every skin tone. Featuring PUR's fan favourites "Afterglow' and "Mineral Glow" along with a new blush shade, "Blusihing Glow" throw this in your bag and you're ready to go! Retail $34.00 USD.
The Bronze and Brighten Cheek Palette is full of shiny shades! I am not to sure about these shades right now, I am thinking it may be a better face palette for the warmer months when I may have a bit more color.
Girlactik - Matte Lip Paint in Posh - One of the original Liquid lipstick formulas that is still true to its words-its lightweight, long wearing, non-cracking and won't settle. For better application, do not apply a lip balm or lip primer before application. Retail $23.00 USD.
I am looking forward to this shade, it looks like something I should be able to get a lot of use out of.
Makeup Geek - Full Spectrum Eye liner Pencil in Plumeria - I could not get a description for this eyeliner from the brands website. When trying to look it up all I got was an error page saying it could not be found, so that would maybe leave me to believe that they are no longer available. The shade I got, Plumeria, reminds me a lot of Alkaline from Urban Decay. This is a very soft pencil, which I think is either going to smudge like crazy, or blend away to nothing, what do you think?
This I am thinking was my replacement item for last months duplicate of the Vintage Highlighter. I'm ok with it! I have not tried much from Makeup Geek and never an eyeliner.
Not a bad box for the last month of 2017! The total retail value of my December 2017 'Rock 2018' Boxy Charm was $144.00 USD, not including the Makeup Geek eyeliner. Not to shabby for my $35ish CAD investment. I am most excited about trying the Dr Brandt primer, It Cosmetics brow pencil and the Girlactik lip paint. Not so sure about the 2 palettes this month.
And now for my thoughts on the December 2017 - Glitz & Glam box -
Real Her-Blush Kit - As I said in my December Boxy Charm post, I did use the shade Unstoppable the most, surprise surprise, the most neutral one. I did try out the other 2 shades and I do think I may reach for Limitless in the warmer months, its a tad to bright for me right now. Fearless left me with more glitter than color though, not a favourite. The shades lasted ok, about 6 hours before they started to show signs of wear.
Beauty Basics-Bronze Essentials - I did end up trading this with a friend from work who wanted this but had gotten the brush and didn't want it?! I was quite happy to trade her for something that has a hope of getting used by me.
Makeup Geek-Makeup Geek Showstopper Creme Stain in Showstopper? - I really like the formula and shade of the Makeup Geek Lip Stain. It is a little darker than I usually wear to work, but I got a ton of compliments on the days I wore it. It wore well to, it lasted through the day, lasting through coffee, snacks and lunches! I would be interested in trying out more shades.
Tarte-Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara - I didn't actually use the full size that I got in my box, I used a sample that has been in my stash for awhile now. It was an ok mascara, nothing earth shattering thats for sure. The brush is fairly sharp so you have to be careful how close to the lash line you get. It lasted ok, didn't start smudging on me until about 6 hours in, which is better than some others.
Vintage Cosmetics-Illuminating Face Highlighter - This was a duplicate item for me so I ran a giveaway for it. I do like the Vintage Highlighters, they are very pigmented! I hope Judy is enjoying it.
Crown Blush Brush - This is the brush I traded the Beauty Basics palette for. I think it is a little to dense for what I like in a blush brush but think it will work great for maybe creams? or contouring? If you got this brush, what have you bee using it for?
So I think the December Boxy Charm 'Glitz & Glam' was not one of the better Boxys for me. The standout product was the Makeup Geek Creme lip Stain which was the cheapest item in the box, $12.00 USD. I traded one product, gave away another and the other 2 were just ok. I still think that Boxy Charm is worth the $35.00ish CAD though. I enjoy trying out new products and this gives me the chance to try out 5 for that price. Or you can think of it as $7 each! When you think of it that way...it makes it an even better deal.
