Time to get caught up on what I have received the past few months from Boxy Charm, starting with the August ‘Life Of The Party’.
The theme for the August 2018 Boxycharm was ‘Life Of The Party’. I was expecting products for a night out, and Boxycharm didn’t disappoint. There are a few products in this box that I would not have picked up on my own at all. The August 2018 Boxycharm came with 6 products, a nice departure from the usual 5! Once again the info card was the flip out kind, I think they have changed to this format now.
The #BOXYFACT for August 2018 - ‘In the past five years, we’ve gone from working out os a single cubicle, to having locations in Miami, Canada, and the Philippines.’ There is a Canadian location?! Why not ship our boxes from there than?
In my August 2018 ‘Life Of The Party’ Boxycharm I received 6 full size products, ranging from skincare, nail care, to of course makeup. The palette and the Smashbox lipstick were both out of my comfort zone, but would be great for a fun night out.
Laura Lee Los Angeles - Party Animal Eyeshadow Palette -Dare to be the life of the party with Laura Lee Los Angeles Party Animal Palette. These six stunning shades create bold, colourful looks leaving you ready for a night of fun! Retail $19.00 USD.
I love getting palettes in Boxycharm, there have been a few I have gotten that I still use over and over again. This palette is just not my type of shades for everyday use, but who knows maybe I will get some use out of it.
House Of Lashes - Lashes in Bombshell - Add length and dimension to your makeup look with your new favourite lashes. Cruelty-Free, high quality and long lasting, these lashes provide up to 15 wears and will be the talk of every party! Retail $9.00-$12.00 USD.
I seem to be getting lashes lately if it is an option, not sure why! I can say right now that I won’t be using these anytime soon. Maybe sometime, but not right now.
Smashbox - Be legendary Lipstick in Totes Matte - Create bold, beautiful looks with your new Smashbox lip product. This pigment-loaded colour glides on in just one swipe, getting you out the door and into the party quicker! Shades and finishes may vary. Retail $21.00-$24.00 USD.
I don’t think I have ever tried a Smashbox lipstick in a tube before. Sadly this is not a shade I am that comfortable wearing on its own.
Wander Beauty - Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks - After a night of partying, who doesn’t lone a good eye mask? These gold foil underage masks brighten, hydrate and reduce the appearance of dark circles. The hyaluronic acid diminishes the appearance of wrinkles, while aloe leaf extracts and lavender oil cool and soothe your underage area. Retail $13.00 USD.
I don’t mind getting masks in my boxes, its something I can use and so can pretty much everyone. These eye masks looked interesting.
Bang Beauty - Chocolate Eyeliner - Use it as an eyeliner, eyeshadow base, or even to touch-up your brows, this creamy, chocolate toned pomade is the ultimate triple threat. Retail $22.00 USD.
Finally, not a black liner! What is it with boxes always giving black liners?! I was so excited to get a brown pot liner and was looking forward to trying it out.
Adesse - Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil - Treat your nails and your cuticles after a night out. This lightweight, non-greasy oil is formulated with vitamin E, shea, sweet almond and jojoba oils that are blended together to create a luxurious treatment that softens the cuticles, moistures and hydrates the nails. Retail $18.00 USD.
I have quite a few cuticle oils hanging around and just have never gotten around to using them, maybe this is the one that I will try first. Especially with the colder, dry weather on the horizon.
My August ‘Life Of The Party’ Boxy Charm came in with a retail value of $102-$108 USD, on the lower end of the scale for my Boxy Charm, but still worth more than my $35.00ish CAD that I paid for it. Even though the August Boxy Charm had 3 products that I am not that interested in trying out, there are still 3 that I am interested in.
Here are my quick thoughts on the products in my July 2018 ‘Road Trippin’ Boxy Charm -
Dr Brandt No More Baggage - I did end up trying out this eye cream from Dr Brandt and it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t my favourite but not to bad. I did find that it helped to reduce bags under my eyes but it really isn’t very moisturizing at all. I think it would be great for someone who doesn’t need a lot of moisture there. The hunt continues for a great eye cream!
Tarte Ready, Set, Radiant Mist - I have been using this face mist all the time! I have used it as a primer and setting spray and like it both ways. I am happy to say that I didn’t notice any glitter even though it says ‘Radiant’ right in the name.
Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara - Sadly I haven’t tried out this mascara yet. I have seen that people either really like it or don’t like it all. I will try it out hopefully sooner rather than later. As soon as I use up some of the sample mascaras that I have kicking around!
Note Cosmetics Luminous Silk Compact Blusher - I used this blush so much during the warmer months! It is fairly pigmented so I did have to be careful when I was applying it. The peachy shade of it was perfect for giving a hint of colour on the cheeks. I was pleasantly surprised that it wore well throughout the day and lasted.
Chella Beauty Eyebrow Cream - I like this eyebrow cream and I don’t. I love the shade and lasting power of it, perfect for someone looking for a light brown without to much warmth. The brush though! It is horrible, way to wide for doing brows. Also I didn’t find the brush worked well for getting the product out either. I ended up using a different brow brush with it and actually liked it.
Even though I didn’t end up loving all the products form the July 2018 ‘Road Trippin’ Boxycharm, I had fun trying out the products. The Tarte mist is something that surprised me and I will continue to use. The Note blush is great and I will definitely continue to use it, probably a lot more in the Spring. Looking forward to trying the Wander Beauty Mascara when I get through some of the others I have. Not sure how much more I will use the Chella Eyebrow cream, but it was nice once I found the right brush.
