I finally received my February Boxy Charm on Monday February 26, which is really late for me. Boxy Charm did send out an email saying that the Canadian boxes would be at least 5 days late due to a change with Canadian Customs. Hopefully my March box won't be held up!
The theme for the February Boxy Charm was 'Galaxy Glow', not quite what you would expect for the month of February where everyone and everything is to do with Valantines Day. My box definitely contains some products that fit the Galaxy Glow theme!
My February Galaxy Glow Boxy Charm contained products from Naked Cosmetics (Holographic Highlighter Palette), Coverfx (Shimmer Veil), Vintage Cosmetics (Smokey Eye Pencil), Seraphine Botanicals (Moisturizing Lip Buffer), and Crown Pro (Trio Brush Set).
Naked Cosmetics - Holographic Highlighter Palette - With six stunning holographic shades, this highlighting palette is essential for any makeup enthusiast. Each iridescent shade is perfect for highlighting and layering too transform any look into something enchanting! Retail $39.99 USD
I am not that into highlight, especially rainbow coloured highlights but I will give this a try to see if it is as pigmented with a brush. Maybe I can use this more as an eyeshadow topper?
Coverfx - Shimmer Veil - These multi-use, shimmering creme colors are crease-proof enough for the boldest of eye looks and formulated with a weightless finish for a shimmering effect anywhere on the face. Suitable for all skin types. Retail $28.00 USD.
I think everyone received the shade 'Amethyst', or at least thats the shade I have seen in other boxes! These are supposed to be able to be used on the eyes, cheeks and lips. I think I will get the most use out of using them on the eyes.
Vintage Cosmetics - Smokey Eye Pencil - Jessica's richly pigmented smokey eye pencil delivers intense jet-black definition! Creating pencil-point precision or smudgy, saturated color, the creamy-soft formula glides on lids without tugging or pulling. Retail $21.00 USD.
My pencil arrived somewhat broken, the lead is broken inside somewhere but it is still usable. I am not to sure how much I will use a smudgy eye pencil, I tend to like my eyeliner to stay where I put it, and not smudge.
Seraphine Botanicals - Sugar + Lemon moisturizing Lip Buffer - A blend of soft sugar crystals within a rich, nourishing salve base that gently exfoliated and buffs lips, leaving behind smoother skin with a touch of refreshing Lemon Zest scent. Made with Avocado, Apricot and Jojaba oils as well as Shea & Cocoa Butter to help rejuvenate & hydrate dry lips. Retail $24.00 USD.
I am happy that I got the Lip Buffer, I can always use a lip scrub, especially in the winter months. My lips get so dry that I can definitely use this. Not to mention, this one isn't in a pot! No gross stuff getting stuck under my nails.
Crown Pro - Trio Brush Set - Use this 3pc Pro Brush Trio to contour your face to perfection! The small brush can be used to conceal imperfections and highlight underneath the eyes. The medium size brush can be used to sculpt the cheekbones and perimeter of the face. Finally, the large powder brush can be used to set everything in place. Retail $29.99 USD.
My first thoughts on these brushes is not great, they aren't that soft and they remind me of the Wet n Wild brush I picked up in January. First thought is that there is no way I would spend almost $30 USD on these 3 brushes. Hoping that once I wash them, maybe they will soften up?
For me, this isn't the best box I have gotten from Boxy Charm...but I still love getting my Boxy Charm! The total retail value of my February 2018 Galaxy Glow box is $142.98. I pay around $30-$35 CAD for the box once I pay for shipping and conversion from USD. I am looking forward to the Coverfx-Shimmer Veil and the Seraphine Botanicals-Sugar & Lemon Moisturizing Lip Buffer. First impression of the Highlighter Palette, Trio Brush Set and Smokey Eye Pencil aren't great, but you never know, maybe they will surprise me and be something great!
Here are my thought on the January 2018 Rock 2018 box -
Dr. Brandt-Pores No More Luminizer Primer- I didn't notice a lot of aluminizing from this primer, maybe a little? I do like it, but wish it had the same pump as the regular Pores No More Primer! The primer is a tad less thick than the regular which I like, especially if I am going for a more minimal look.
It Cosmetics-Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil- I am lucky enough to have lighter hair so I don't need to use a lot of pressure to get the shade to work for me. It was just an ok brow pencil, I am happy to use it but don't think it will beat out my favourite Mac one.
Crown Pro-Glam Metals Palette- I know quite a few people really liked this palette, me not so much. I couldn't get a great look out of it, I found that the shades kind of blended away to not much. Most of the shades are shimmers, which I prefer to only have shimmer on the lids. I found that if I used another matte palette I liked the palette better, to just use a shimmer on the lid. The shimmer shades worked better if I patted them on more so than if I swept them on. It does have a few shades that I don't think I have in other palettes so I may hold on to it.
PUR The Complexion Authority-Bronze And Brighten Cheek Palette- I was not the biggest fan of this either...It was a little to bright for my pale winter skin right now. It is very heavy on the shimmers as well. I am thinking that I may like this more when I have a bit more of a summer color happening.
Girlactik-Matte Lip Paint- I got the shade Posh and I love it! It is a little darker than I normally wear but I received so many compliments whenever I wore it. The formula is great on this liquid lip as well. It isn't transfer-proof but it is so comfortable to wear. It never really dried down but it did stay quite a while on my lips. There was still a stain left on my lips by the end of the day.
The January Rock 2018 box had a few great products for me, as well as a few that I will try again in the warmer months. My first thoughts on the January box were right though! I am finally beginning to figure out what I like and works for me. I still love trying new things, you just never know when something will surprise you. For me the stand out product from last month was the Girlactik Matte lip Paint though, my new favourite shade.
