KVD 10-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette - Review and Swatches

I know that I am pretty late in posting about the Kat Von D 10-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette, but better late than never!  Here are my thoughts on the palette!

I picked up the Kat Von D 10-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette up on May 10.  I have been using the palette off and on since I received it and feel like I can share my thoughts on it.  I love the artwork that was done by Kat Von D, but I am not a big fan of the gold colour on the package.  The palette does have a good weight to it as well, it is plastic but it doesn't feel cheap at all.

From Sephora.ca - A new, limited-edition eyeshadow palette featuring 16 bold, blendable shades, and including original artwork designed by Kat Von D, in honor of the brand’s 10th Anniversary.

Kat Von D Beauty is celebrating their first decade in the only way they know how—an epic eyeshadow palette that inspires you to be your boldest self. In honor of this milestone, Kat hand-picked a special selection of shades inspired by and named after 16 of her muses—people of all backgrounds, ages, genders, and skin tones—representing the many faces of Kat Von D Beauty. This rainbow-bright selection of shades and finishes is designed to power your self-expression with insane pigment and effortless blendability.

The Kat Von D 10-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette has 16 shadows with a mix of mattes, shimmers and 1 duo chrome.  The palette is made up of mostly matte shades, 11 to be exact, with 4 shimmer shades and the one duochrome shade.   I love the fact that there are so many matte shades!  There are quite a few neutral leaning shades with a few pops of colour.  Which is great for me, I love neutrals!

As you can see, there is absolutely no wasted space on the inside of the palette.  I wish that the shade names were on the inside but I also like the fact that they made it as compact as possible and still managed to get 16 shades in there!.  The matte shades range from neutrals to bold shades.

The shades in the palette are -

Adele - chocolate brown - matte dark brown - I have used this shade to darken the outer v as well as a liner and it worked great for both.

Malice - vermillion red - matte dark orange - used the same way as Adele.

Ashley - peachy orange - matte pale orange - I love using Ashley as a crease blending shade, its a great warm shade for that.

Gina - mustard yellow - matte muted yellow -  another shade that I like to use as a crease blending shade.

Egypt - gold glimmer - shimmery gold - Egypt is a bold gold shade that applied great on the lid and stayed put.

Sylvia - honey beige - matte pale yellow - I have used Sylvia to help blend out darker shades if I went in a tad to heavy for work appropriate!

Lala - olive green -  matte olive green - I have been loving using this olive green shade as a crease shade and have done a green toned eye a few times and gotten quite a few compliments!

Leafer - emerald glimmer - shimmery green - another bold shimmer that packs quite a punch.  I have used Leafer and Lala for an eye look and liked how it turned out.

Melanie - rosy cream -  matte cream - perfect matte brow highlight for me.  I use this shade every time I use the palette.

Alexandra - rose gold glimmer - shimmery peach - I love doing a simple work eye look using Alexandra on the lid and Nancy in the crease.  Such a pretty barely there eye look.

Nancy - taupe mauve - matte pale brown - Another great crease shade!

Catherine2 - orchid glimmer - shimmery medium purple - I haven't used this shade, if im truthful its a little out of my comfort zone!  It is a beautiful shade though.

Kelly - blue/brown glimmer - blue/brown duochrome - I love the duochrome look, it changes the look completely depending on how you are looking at it.

Sarah - cool grieve - matte taupe - I didnt think I would like Sarah, but I have been liking doing cooler toned looks lately and this yet another great crease shade!

Carolyn - muted teal - matte teal - I like to use Carolyn as a liner shade when I am doing a greenish eye look.

Chad - cobalt blue - matte bright blue - the other shade that I haven't gotten up the never to use yet!  I am thinking that it would make a great liner shade though.

Even though I am more of a neutral/natural loving makeup wearer, I am still finding ways to use most of the shades in the Kat Von D 10-year Anniversary palette.  I have never worn green eye makeup before I picked up this palette and I have since done it a few times now!  The shades in this palette are bold, but there are quite a few neutrals that help to bring it all together.  It has been a great way to incorporate some color into my everyday eye looks.  I bet that you could great some great night time smokey eye looks from it as well.  For me the Kat von D palette was a good purchase because I have started to use some more color since the palette has it all in one place.  All of the matte shades that I have used had great pigmentation and were also easy to blend out.  I know that some of the swatches left a bit to be desired but on the eye, with brushes they were great.

The Kat Von D 10-Year Anniversary Palette is still available at Sephora stores as well as online for $62.00 CAD, which I think is a fair price for the selection and quality of the shadows.
