A small amount of empties, but I did have some very definite thoughts on some of them! Up before the first week of July is up, a win for me!
I was surprised with how small my bag of trash was for the month of June. I thought I had used up more, but I guess not. Not to mention, only 1 foil sample! I think I may need to really start focusing on using up some of those soon. Maybe I should do a whole month of samples?! Something to definitely think about doing soon.
I usually use up more than this for Face and Body Care! I am not sure what I was using last month, obviously not the usual products.
The Body Shop - Satsuma Body Polish - I love the scent of TBS Satsuma products and the Body Polish was no different. I only wish that it that it had more scrubby bits in it. I didnt find that this body polish did much of anything for me, it barely has any grit to it all. I do happen to like my body scrubs to have some scrubbing action to them. Repurchase? I doubt it, but I would use it again if I had it.
The Body Shop Vanilla Chia Shower Gel - Another scent from TBS that I love! Although I have to say that I think the Vanilla Chia scent is more suited to the Fall/Winter months! I don't mind TBS Shower Gel, I just wish that the bottle was easier to squeeze when it was getting close to empty. Repurchase? Possibly, I did like it, maybe in the Fall?
Bumble and Bumble Bb Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil - I was actually surprised by how much I like this product. I have wavy hair and using about a quarter size amount of the product gave my waves nice definition and helped to tame down the frizz. My hair never felt crunchy nor weighted down with product. I was able to do my normal hair washing routine while using it. The sample was so generous that I actually was able to use it for a couple of weeks. I went looking for this on the Sephora site, it must be an old sample because I can't seem to find it. Repurchase? Probably, if I could find it :(
Bath & Body Works Italian Citurs Sun Ultra Shea Body Cream - This is a product that is usually in my empties in some scent. I think I have now come to the conclusion that while I do really like this body cream, for me it may be better suited to the cooler months. I have been finding that in this heat that we have been having lately, that the B&BW Body Cream has been feeling quite heavy and taking quite awhile to sink into my skin. I like the fresh citrus scent of the Italian Citrus Sun, but sadly I don't think I will be picking this scent up again as it smells like summer in a lotion, but the body cream is to heavy right now. Repurchase? Once I finish up what I have in the cooler months.
Schick Intuition Razor Refill - My favourite razor refill! I pick these up at Costco for under $30 CAD with a razor and 12 refills. When you are in the shower at 430am you don't want to be fumbling with more products than needed and I have never once nicked myself using the Intuition. Repurchase? Always!
Dermablend Long Wear Makeup Remover - I got this sample with a Beauty Boutique order so I am imagining that you can pick this up at Shoppers. I liked it alright, just don't get it anywhere near your eyes if you are wanting to be able to see for the next 5-10 minutes! It did a good job of breaking up any face makeup I had on and it worked on eye makeup as well, but it stung my eyes so badly that I couldn't see for awhile after using it. Repurchase? No, I like a makeup remover that doesn't make me go blind for a few minutes!
Philosophy Time In a Bottle For Eyes - My one and only foil sample for the month! I liked the eye cream ok, it didnt bother my eyes but the sample size was really to small to notice if it was doing anything for me. It didnt break me out or give me the small white bumps under my eyes. Repurchase? I think I would like to try it out for longer to see if it does anything.
I think this is a record for full size makeup products used up in a month for me!
L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof - I picked this up last summer for my nephews wedding in August..I know I had it for way to long! The tube is pretty much full and had not been used since the wedding. I did try it out again to refresh my memory as to why I never used it considering everyones rave reviews on it. The wand is a natural brush, which I like, but it is also HUGE! When I tried to use it I would almost always get mascara on my lids, not fun! The waterproof version is also one of the hardest mascaras I have ever tried remove! I had nothing that would get rid of it completely and whenever I used it I would wake up with racoon eyes because even though I thought I had gotten it all off, I obviously didnt. My sister tells me that the regular version doesn't smudge either so maybe once I get through some of the mascaras, both full size and sample size, that are taking up room I will give it a try. Repurchase? Not the Waterproof version!
Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil - I had gotten the Precisely, My Brow pencil in shade 2 in a set forever ago! And while I do like it, the shade is great for folks with blonde to light brown hair, it was a little harder of a pencil than I personally prefer. I like a bit of a softer pencil so it doesn't feel like I am ripping out my brow hairs while I am filling them in. It does have a pretty good spoolie on the end which is nice so you don't have to go searching for one. Repurchase? Probably not.
Sephora Clear Brow Gel - I picked this brow gel up to try something different, I mean its a clear gel you wouldn't think it matter. When I first started using it I really liked it, it gave a nice amount of hold (I am older so the brow hairs can get a little crazy between brow appointments!) that wasn't crunchy at all. The only problem is that after about month of near daily use the formula seemed to change and it started feeling thicker and leaving my brows a little crunchy. Repurchase? Maybe I want to try a few other formulas and see if they do the same thing.
I didnt end up using many candles over the month of June, but what I did burn I liked! I have already said how much I like 'Coconut Beach' and 'Honey Lavender Gelato', both are slightly sweet but not overpowering on the sweet side. 'A Calm & Quiet Place' was a nice relaxing scent that almost faded into the background were you forgot you had anything burning! 'Juicy Citrus & Sea Salt' was another softer scent than I anticipated but I still liked it, it had just a hint of citrus that didn't smell fake.
So for a smaller than usual amount of empties, I did have a few good ones! Also a few that I am happy to see gone. I am hoping that I maybe just missed the Bumble and Bumble gel on the Sephora site and that I can find it for a decent price. I am thinking that I really need to get on using up the samples that I have so that I don't find a product that I like only to find that I can't get it anymore. Any hints or tricks on remembering to use up samples? How do you go about using them up?
