Trip Through My Trash May 2019

Time for another Trip Through My Trash! I finished up quite a few products over the month of May, and am tossing 3 and passing on 2.

A very respectable amount of empties for the month of May.

A very respectable amount of empties for the month of May.

Once again, a few regular empties but for May I used up quite a few new to me products! I am slowly going through my stash of foil samples as well as deluxe sized ones. This is the year I am going to get through a lot of them! I plan on not picking up anything, skincare/bodycare/haircare until I use up all or most of them. Let me know if you would be interested in seeing the stash I am working through.

A good amount of hair, body and skin care.

A good amount of hair, body and skin care.

My quick thoughts on what I used up/getting rid of -

Pantene Cleansing Conditioner- This is the best drugstore cleansing conditioner that I have found so far. I use it more so in the warmer months, especially when I find that I am sweating more. I don’t like to ‘wash’ my hair very often, I just find that it gets very dry feeling if I do. This cleansing conditioner helps to remove some of the oils from hair and gets me through another couple of days before I have to actually use shampoo. Repurchase? Always do!

The Body Shop Chamomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover- This was an ok eye makeup remover, just not my favourite. I found that I had to work harder to remove my mascara when I used this. It didn’t leave any residue on my eyes at all, but it did sting a little if I happened to get any in my eyes. I will say that it did wash off of my DIY cotton pads completely, unlike the eye makeup remover I picked up last month. Repurchase? I don’t think so.

Kirkland Daily Facial Towelette- These are the best deal I have found on makeup wipes at Costco. I have slowed down on my usage of them though, not sure why?! I used to have one of these in almost every Trash post but not so much lately. I do still like them, but I have been using other things instead. Repurchase? Probably.

Design Essentials Natural Almond & Avocado Curl Enhancing Mousse- This was a fair size sample that was in a Total Texture hair set that I picked up when I went to visit my nephew last summer, if you want to see what else I picked up during that trip you can find it here. I actually liked this one, it comes out like a mousse type texture and 1 pump was enough for my long hair. It gave some nice definition to my waves without going crunchy at all. Repurchase? Maybe

7th Heaven Charcoal Detox Bubble Mask- I have a post about this mask so if you would like to know my thoughts on this mask you can find it here. Repurchase? Maybe

Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo- I can’t remember where I got this deluxe sized sample of shampoo, but it was a good size. I am actually giving this to my sister as I hated it! My hair didn’t feel clean after using this, it actually felt like I had a coating on my hair, not what I am looking for in a shampoo. Purchase? Nope

B&BW Winter White Woods Gentle Foaming Hand Soap- I used to pick this hand soap up a lot but haven’t lately. I am just going to finish up the ones I have and than I think i will look for others. The B&BW hand soaps used to be antibacterial but no longer are. Repurchase? Doubt it.

Perricone MD Hypoallergenic Firming Eye Cream- This was an ok eye cream, I didn’t notice anything amazing nor bad. I didn’t notice anything weird going on with my makeup either. I was able to fill a Sephora sample jar with this foil sample and I was able to use this both AM and PM for a week. Purchase? Doubt it, for the price I didn’t notice anything amazing.

Live Clean Fresh Face Nourishing Night Cream- I am planning on passing this night cream on to my sister as it is just to heavy for my combo skin now that the warmer months are here. I liked it ok in the cooler months, but its just to heavy now. Repurchase? Doubt it.

Sunday Riley Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm- I got this in a Sephora Favoriteds set forever ago and I am not sure what took me so long to try it out. I love the way it makes my skin feel after using it, I do not however like the price of it. This cleansing balm does have some grit to it, I think thats why I liked it so much. It only takes a little bit to get all the makeup off. It isn’t a hard solid, nor is it runny, it is just the perfect mix of the 2. This deluxe sample jar lasted me over 2 months! Repurchase? I want to , but my wallet doesn’t!

Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream- Again I was able to get a weeks worth out of this eye cream by putting it in a sample jar. And again, I didn’t notice anything great with this eye cream. I found that makeup also went well overtop of it. Purchase? I may pick this one to try out for longer, whenever I run out of samples…

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream- The third eye cream sample! This deluxe sample lasted me quite awhile, I was able to use it for a few weeks. But again, it went well over makeup and I again didnt notice anything great happening in my underage area. Purchase? I doubt it.

The biggest amount of tosses here, 3.

The biggest amount of tosses here, 3.

Unfortunately, 3 tosses in the makeup section-

Bite Agave Lip Mask- I did like this lip mask before, not so much now. The bite lip mask is VERY thick and somewhat hard to get out of the tube. I liked it up until I tried out the Laneige one, now that one is my favourite! I was going to finish up this tube, but somehow it ended up in the washer and dryer. I am tossing this now. Repurchase? Doubt it

Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Wheat- I believe I had gotten this one as a point perk? I can’t remember when I got it but thought I would try it out. I’m not sure if this is dried out or if it is usually as dry as it is right now. I tried this in place of the Mac Paint pot, but where the Mac is creamy this one is drying. It clung to dry patches I didnt even know I had. It showed every bit of texture I have on my lids as well. Second toss of this section. Purchase? Nope

Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara- I again have written a post about this mascara, that you can find here. I do have another full size tube of it that I may crack into during the winter months. The final toss of this section. Repurchase? Doubt it, but I will use the other that I have.

Marc Jacobs Poutliner Longwear Lip Liner Pencil in Prim(rose)- I really liked this lip liner a lot! When it was new it was so creamy but also long lasting. The shade Prim(rose) was perfect for evening out my lip color, it was slightly darker than my own lips which made it great to be a base layer for lip shades that were slightly to light for me. The only thing I wasn’t to impressed about was just how quickly it got to a drier texture. I have other lip liners that are older than this one that have not gotten dry on me. I will say that this deluxe sample sized did last me quite awhile though. Purchase? I doubt it for $31.00 CAD, but I also wouldn’t say no to a set that had another deluxe sample in it.

Double the amount of candles from last month!

Double the amount of candles from last month!

Can you tell by the fragrance names on these 2 votives the scent I was wanting to smell last month?! I was wanted it to feel more like summer and ended up burning 2 coconut based candles last month. I really like both of these scents and would definitely buy both of them again. The Guava Coconut Fusion was slightly sweeter than Coconut Beach, were the Coconut Beach has a stronger Coconut scent.

A fairly decent amount of empties for the month of May, with quite a few different products than usual for me. I think trying to use up what I have is going to show quite a few different products than I would usually use up in a month. It is making me try out all the samples/products I picked up and started to horde/forget about. Are you working away at samples/products that you just kept buying because you didnt want to run out? Or try out and forgot about? Let me know.
